Monarch Season 2 Sets Up Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Cate Randa, May Olowe-Hewitt, and Lee Shaw fall into the Hollow Earth, a place where time flows differently. They soon realize that several years have passed in the outside world while they were gone.
Cate and May traveled back to around 2017. The second Godzilla movie came out in 2019 and appears to happen around the same time. If the show doesn’t jump ahead significantly between seasons, it’s likely that Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters takes place right before Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
This period is important because Godzilla: King of the Monsters introduces several new Titans, like King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. Consequently, Monarch has a lot more work to do protecting the world from these giant creatures. They also have to deal with threats from humans, such as the eco-terrorist Alan Jonah.
A second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters could bridge some gaps in the story between the films. The show offers a chance to fill in details and explain events that felt rushed or skipped over. While nothing is confirmed, fans might also see characters from the movies make an appearance.
What to Expect From Monarch Season 2

Trailers for Season 2 of Monarch reveal that Lee Shaw successfully escapes from the Hollow Earth, despite being trapped there at the end of last season. While it’s currently unknown how Apex rescues him, the season premiere will likely explain everything. This also suggests we’ll see more flashbacks of Lee Shaw and his important role in the origins of Monarch, which will probably provide crucial context for the new season.
As a huge monster movie fan, I’m already completely hooked by what I’ve seen of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2! It feels way bigger and more action-packed than the first season, and it looks like we’re finally going to see King Kong properly enter the picture. What I really appreciate is how the show is connecting everything to Godzilla: King of the Monsters – it’s actually filling in some gaps and making the whole MonsterVerse timeline feel much more cohesive and satisfying.
