Even though summer’s gone, I’m really excited about ITV’s Frauds! It’s a heist thriller, and from what I’ve seen, it’s filmed in a gorgeous coastal location – definitely bringing some sunshine into my living room. It seems like a great way to keep the good vibes going, even as the weather turns.
Suranne Jones and Jodie Whittaker star as Bert and Sam, former criminal partners who reunite to plan one final job for a rich and mysterious client.
In classic heist fashion, they gather a team of specialists to pull off a job that could dramatically improve their lives. Each member brings unique talents to the table, but also personal problems and a troubled past that threaten to ruin everything.
If the beautiful locations in Frauds have inspired you to plan a getaway, here’s a breakdown of where the funny ITV thriller takes place (and where the filming really happened).
Where is ITV’s Frauds filmed?

The ITV drama Frauds was shot on location in Tenerife, a well-known Spanish island and vacation spot situated just off the northwest African coast.
However, Tenerife isn’t actually featured as itself in Frauds (so to speak). The show’s story takes place on mainland Spain, specifically in the southern province of Málaga, an area where co-creator Anne-Marie O’Connor has lived for a considerable time.
She shared with the press her enthusiasm for the area’s “spaghetti western feel,” explaining that “there’s a real sense of being somewhere different, with a dry heat and that classic outlaw vibe you find in places like Las Vegas”.
O’Connor went on to say, “Even in well-known destinations like Marbella, where everything seems perfectly arranged for you, you don’t have to look very far to find a lack of order and even lawlessness.”
While searching for places to film, executive producer Katie Kelly explained that they needed locations that looked both beautiful and “glistening” on the surface, but also had a hidden, less obvious “underbelly” to properly tell the story that O’Connor and co-writer Suranne Jones had envisioned.
“Filming in Tenerife provided us with all the necessary resources and even exceeded our expectations,” she stated, clarifying that the well-known Canary Islands location served as an alternative to Málaga.
“You can go from a lively, beachside scene reminiscent of the Costa del Sol, packed with clubs, to suddenly being in a charming, historic Spanish town or surrounded by beautiful, green mountains.”
Jodie Whittaker, who acted alongside the fraudsters, also expressed her fondness for Tenerife. She told reporters she thought it was an amazing place to film, and she considers traveling for on-location shoots to be one of the best parts of her work.

“It was stunning,” she remembered. My house was in a small town named La Laguna, located in the north. I truly loved it and it will definitely be one of my top five favorite places ever.”
Whittaker mentioned she’d visited Tenerife with her family a long time ago, but hadn’t really explored the northern part of the island before. She was particularly impressed with the city of Santa Cruz, calling it another “brilliant” part of her trip.
The warm, sub-tropical weather and American West-inspired scenery definitely make Frauds stand out from the sometimes repetitive world of television, but for O’Connor, it simply seemed like “a perfect spot for a bunch of scammers to gather around”.
Frauds premieres ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday 5th October 2025.
