White Lotus Season 4 Location Revealed? All the Details

The White Lotus is saying “Bienvenue” to an all-new resort.

As reported by Deadline, the award-winning show created by Mike White will be moving its action to a lavish French hotel for its forthcoming fourth season.

TopMob News has reached out to HBO for additional comment.

So far, each season of the comedy-drama has been filmed in a distinct country – starting with Hawaii in the first season, then Italy, and more recently, Thailand during its third run. However, earlier this year, hints were dropped suggesting that the series might revisit a continent it has previously explored.

In a conversation with Deadline in February, the executive vice president of HBO programming, Francesca Orsi, shared that they would be scouting various locations over the next few weeks. This means they’ll have more information soon about their plans. As for specific locations, she couldn’t reveal them just yet, but chances are high that the project will materialize somewhere in Europe.

Next season, both the environment and the creative aspects will undergo change. After the tragic events of season three’s finale in April, Mike has signaled his intent for some innovative tweaks, starting with one distinctive visual feature that’s a staple of our series.

In the same video shared by HBO Max, he expressed his desire for the upcoming season to move beyond the “repeating crashing wave and rock” imagery.

Of course, fans should be prepared for even more elements that made the series special. As Mike put it, “There’s always space for additional mysteries within the White Lotus resorts.

Regarding who could potentially be in season four, if it were up to Parker Posey (who played Victoria Ratliff in the previous season), she would like her friend Lisa Kudrow to join. And Lisa Kudrow isn’t opposed to this idea, expressing her interest by saying in a June interview with Variety, “Working with Mike White? Yes. I admire Mike White and have even spent time with him at a party.

Apart from developing the next storyline for ‘White Lotus’, Mike has another exciting project lined up – he’s been selected as a returning contestant for the upcoming 50th season of ‘Survivor’. Notably, he left a lasting impact on the show’s veteran host, Jeff Probst, after his participation in 2018.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in August, the long-term host of the CBS competition series praised Mike, stating that he is among the most unique and affectionate individuals they’ve encountered. Mike remains genuine, acting freely on his own terms, which is evident in his accomplishments. To be honest, I’m fortunate to call him a friend as I learn something new from Mike every day. You’re referring to one of the greatest talents ever.

It was confirmed in January that HBO would be producing a fourth season of “The White Lotus”, even before the third season had its premiere. This decision came after the series creator, Mike White, presented ideas for more intrigue, wealth, and chaos in the next installment.

Casey Bloys, HBO’s CEO, stated in November that if Mike intends to progress and complete the four-season project, he would undoubtedly work on the fourth season.

Production on season four will likely kick off in 2026, according to Variety.

While rumors suggest that the fourth season may be set in France, White and his fellow producers have not officially announced the location for season four. However, they’ve been subtly providing hints about it.

In an interview with Deadline in February, the executive vice president of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi, mentioned that they will be scouting various locations over the next few weeks. This means they’ll have more information about their choices soon. As for where exactly they might settle, she couldn’t give specifics, but hinted that it could likely be somewhere in Europe.

Chances, she emphasized.

In his remarks, Orsi mentioned certain nations displayed on the map, however, he has no updates until those countries have been physically inspected or scouted.

In an interview with HBO following the April 6 season three finale, White expressed his intention to move away from the “constant crashing of waves onto rocks” style for the upcoming season.

“But,” he added, “there’s always room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”

Furthermore, during his visit to Sydney for the Vivid Festival in June 2023, White expressed Australia as one of his desired travel destinations.

He exclaimed that it would be incredibly enjoyable, for here is an abundance of skill and the splendor is undeniable, making it seem as if everything desirable is present.

It hasn’t been featured yet, but so far, a frozen body hasn’t been a plot element in the series, and it seems a luxurious ski resort might not be on the horizon. Producer David Bernad shared with The Guardian back in February that Mike is not fond of cold weather.

Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who won an Emmy for composing the theme music for “White Lotus,” has chosen not to return for season four due to creative differences that date back to the initial season of the show.

Tapia de Veer explained to the New York Times in an interview on April 2 that it feels a bit strange due to the fact that he informed his team several months ago that he wouldn’t be returning and would be leaving. However, he chose not to tell Mike for multiple reasons, intending to inform him near the end for maximum impact. Nevertheless, White claimed that he discovered the news before the season ended.

Referring to the memorable theme tune he composed for season one (which was reused in season two), Tapia de Veer noted, “It’s seen as a success later on, but getting there is quite challenging” as White initially “wasn’t keen on the theme.

Instead of being instructed to revamp the opening sequence for season three, he chose to do so on his own initiative. However, this decision was met with a significant amount of frustration from the fans.

When it was released, Tapia de Veer received calls from TMZ, as well as individuals from England and France, all seeking a comment on the new theme. People were outraged by the change and I found that intriguing, so I reached out to the producer suggesting that we eventually provide the extended version with the “ooh-loo-loo-loos” since fans would be blown away if they discovered it was originally intended. The producer thought this was a good idea, but Mike ended up editing that part out, as he wasn’t pleased about it.

The musician stated, ‘I believe after our final argument, we parted ways permanently. His refusal then was likely a denial of all future possibilities.’

On The Howard Stern Show on April 8th, White criticized Tapia de Veer’s actions as underhanded or unfair for publicizing his complaints in such a manner.

White stated, “I’m not sure about the circumstances, but since he’s launching a public relations effort regarding his exit from the show, I’ve been reading his interviews. Frankly, I feel he didn’t value my respect.

The producer clarified, “We never truly clashed in battle, as some might suggest. He calls it a feud… It was primarily about me offering suggestions.

In the initial two seasons, their partnership proved successful as per White’s statement, largely due to the exchange of ideas. However, by season three, Tapia de Veer expressed a desire to work independently, showing less interest in receiving feedback from me, avoiding meetings, and not accepting my notes.

And, White added, “He’s definitely making a big deal out of just a creative difference.”

White was delightfully surprised when Jon Gries, who portrayed Tanya’s enigmatic suitor Greg in season one and her cunning husband in season two, consented to return for a role as the devious widower Gary in season three. However, Gries hinted that Gary (or perhaps Greg) might no longer be around, according to his understanding.

However, that’s what he thought last time.

He shared with The Hollywood Reporter following the end of season three that, while he’s unsure, it seems unlikely he will return. His words were, “Every time I depart, I presume it’s goodbye.

However attractive the idea of a fresh cast at each resort might seem to some, as White explained to The New Yorker, it allows for the option to “set the house on fire after every season and rebuild anew.” Yet, contrary to this possibility, the show has demonstrated that if characters aren’t deceased…

As a devoted fan, I must confess that anticipating Mike White’s moves is as challenging as solving a complex puzzle. Just as I didn’t expect to be part of season two, neither did I anticipate rejoining for season three. Each new project he undertakes holds an air of unpredictability. Should the story of Greg not seem fully told yet? Alas, I cannot reveal my intentions for future seasons.

Apart from a “White Lotus” prequel or scenario involving multiple universes, there seems to be no other means for Jennifer Coolidge’s character Tanya to reappear, except perhaps in a scene depicting a flashback or dream. Her surprising demise in the season two finale, where she was revealed as the premiere’s mysterious corpse after being the sole returning character from season one, has left fans hopeful for her return ever since.

White expresses a sense of Missing Coolidge’s presence, yet remains silent on the matter of Coolidge’s choice to eliminate the naive and overly wealthy Tanya, who had good intentions.

On TopMob News in January 2023, following the season two finale, Coolidge stated that White adheres firmly to his choices. He’s an exceptional friend, but it seems he’s made up his mind. He aimed for a grand, theatrical, Italian, almost operatic conclusion for White Lotus 2, and he was prepared to sacrifice Tanya.

Indicating that Tanya won’t appear in Thailand during season three, she shared with The New Yorker, “I believe Tanya isn’t returning, so I must accept this reality.
