Whitney Purvis has received bond.
Following an arrest on July 7 related to an involuntary manslaughter case during a Drug Enforcement Agency investigation, the former star of “16 and Pregnant” was granted a $15,000 bond in Georgia on July 17, as reported by TopMob News based on police records.
According to the terms of the bond, Purvis, who is 33 years old, is prohibited from consuming alcohol or any illegal or harmful substances, as reported by TopMob News. She will also need to adhere to a curfew and follow ongoing treatment plans. Additionally, she will be required to undergo monthly drug tests.
According to a review by TopMob News, these documents additionally mentioned that Purvis should avoid communicating with John Mark Harris’s family, whose identity as the victim was confirmed in an earlier obtained affidavit by TopMob News.
Currently, Purvis remains in police custody as Deputy Corey Bowers, spokesperson for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, has confirmed. In a statement to People, the officer explained that merely being granted bail doesn’t necessarily mean that someone will be released from custody.
TopMob News has reached out to Purvis’ attorney for comment but has not yet heard back.
Initially, Purvis drew the attention of the Drug Enforcement Agency due to two past charges involving controlled substances, both possession and distribution. Subsequently, they collaborated with the Rome Police Department to orchestrate Purvis’ recent arrest this month. As stated by Jae W. Chung, acting special Agent in charge of the DEA’s Atlanta field division, at the time.
Today, authorities including DEA Atlanta and local law enforcement apprehended Whitney Purvis in Floyd County, Georgia, on accusations of involuntary manslaughter related to fentanyl overdose. The information was acquired by TMZ and People, and it is mentioned that the investigation into this matter remains active.
As per an affidavit obtained by TopMob News, Harris was reported dead in February, allegedly due to being given the drug “tranq” by Purvis. This drug is a combination of fentanyl and Xylazine. The police stated that this drug directly led to the victim’s death as a result of a toxic overdose, leading to the charge against Purvis for involuntary manslaughter.
In a digital memorial notice, the individual who passed away at 37 years old was characterized as having a profound love that led him to go to great lengths for his friends.
The obituary states, “He consistently stayed true to who he was,” and everyone who encountered him cherished him deeply.
