Fans were eagerly anticipating the return of Race Across the World, a hugely popular show, and the BBC delivered just in time to brighten up the winter months by announcing the celebrities who will be competing in the new series.
I’m really excited for this new show starting tonight, November 6th! It kicks off with the contestants on a Caribbean island, and then they’ll be racing through different checkpoints, ultimately trying to reach the finish line in Colombia’s Peninsula de La Guajira – which I hear is like the entrance to South America. It sounds like an incredible journey!
Just like in past seasons, the celebrities aren’t allowed to use smartphones or the internet. This time, they’re facing a tight budget, with only £30 a day to live on – the lowest amount the show has ever provided!
This season, actor Dylan Llewellyn is joining the show, and he’s bringing his mother, Jackie, with him! Here’s a quick introduction to both of them before the first episode airs.
Who are Dylan and Jackie?

Relationship: Mother and son
From: Reigate, Surrey
Jobs: Actor and retiree
Instagram: @djllewellyn
Dylan Llewellyn is a 33-year-old actor who is most famous for his role as English James in the popular show Derry Girls. He’s also appeared in other television series, including Hollyoaks, Big Boys, and Beyond Paradise.
Dylan, who jokingly calls himself a ‘mummy’s boy,’ is running the race with his mother, Jackie, a 59-year-old who is retired.
He confessed to TopMob magazine that he’d always dreamed of having a big adventure with a family member, and that he was close to his mother.
Why did Dylan and Jackie want to take part in Celebrity Race Across the World?
The pair described their experience on the show as unforgettable and magical.
I signed up because it seemed like an incredible opportunity. It looked really exciting and fun, and honestly, who could pass up an adventure like that?
Sharing this experience with my mum makes it even more special,” Dylan explained. “It’s a unique opportunity, and doing it with someone I love makes it all the better.
Jackie explained that she’s usually a very routine person who prefers sticking to what’s comfortable and safe. She sees this experience as a chance to step outside of that, feeling it’s something she should do at this point in her life. Typically, she just goes to places for vacation, rather than actually experiencing a journey along the way.
Celebrity Race Across the World returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Thursday 6th November at 8pm.
