Who Could Matthew Rhys Voice in Invincible Season 4? Top 3 Character Predictions

Over the last day, Invincible enthusiasts have experienced quite a storm of excitement due to the thrilling update from the creators of the animated series based on Robert Kirkman’s work.

Apart from getting a fifth season renewal for our favorite Prime Video series, an exciting new actor has joined the talented voice cast, sparking lots of curiosity and discussion on various online platforms.

Matthew Rhys, best recognized for roles in The Americans, Perry Mason, and as the voice of Emperor Belos in The Owl House, was hinted at being part of the cast in a recent announcement video, causing discussion about which new character the Welsh performer might be lending his voice to in the upcoming seasons.

In the forthcoming battle against the Viltrumites, Mark (Steven Yeun) and Oliver Grayson (Christian Convery) will be joining their father Nolan (JK Simmons), Allen (Seth Rogen), and the Coalition of Planets. However, there are still several important characters yet to be introduced in the show.

Discover who the principal figures might be, as portrayed by the Welsh actor, in Invincible‘s fourth season.

General Thragg (the most obvious suspect)

As a diehard fan, I can’t help but feel a thrill running through me when considering the impending arrival of the Viltrumite supreme ruler in season four. The recent casting choice of the Perry Mason actor has sparked a wave of speculation among us fans, and it’s not hard to see why – with Thragg being such a formidable adversary.

The appearance of Conquest on Earth has undeniably set the stage for the Grand Regent, as the fourth season hints at the emergence of two formidable antagonists originally depicted in Kirkman’s comic book saga.

The fierce ruler is the supreme fighter among the dwindling number of unadulterated Viltrumites, and is determined to rebuild the empire back to its past splendor.

A key villain will significantly impact the approaching Viltrumite war, as the Graysons’ and their allies’ successful defeat of Conquest has marked them as high-priority targets for Thragg and his forces.

As a movie critic, I must confess my intrigue about Matthew Rhys potentially voicing the Viltrumite leader. Given his impressive vocal performance as the antagonist in The Owl House, it’s not difficult to imagine him bringing life to a character reminiscent of Thragg.

Rhys boasts a great deal of experience in voice acting, surpassing even that of the main cast members. Although he may not be as recognized as fresh faces like Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Jonathan Banks (who has a limited appearance), his talent is undeniable for portraying Thragg’s fearsome leadership and intensity on screen.

Space Racer (another likely candidate)

A significant character, who will likely play a crucial part in the upcoming battle, has subtly been presented in the series. Do you recall the science fiction novels written by Nolan? These novels contain vital details that could potentially help defeat the Viltrumites, with Space Racer playing a pivotal role.

About a century past, Nolan managed to subdue and interred an extraterrestrial being referred to as Space Racer. This alien was a significant menace to the Viltrumites due to his possession of an extraordinarily potent weapon that discharged blasts capable of withstanding any destruction.

Yet, as Nolan and Allen embark on a quest to enlist support for the Coalition of Planets versus the Viltrumites, it’s clear that Nolan will likely require the weapon and its possessor to become part of their crusade.

Although Rhys might be well-suited for the character Thragg, who’s typically portrayed as a villain, the creators usually opt for well-known actors for their main characters. And there isn’t a more eagerly awaited role than that of the Viltrumite leader. Consequently, Space Racer seems to be a safer choice.

Dinosaurus (a possible contender)

Dinosaursaur (also known as David Anders) is another cherished character who hasn’t appeared in the series yet, but significantly influences Mark Grayson’s perspective on being a superhero.

The figure serves as a rival in the comic books, boasting incredibly smart super abilities alongside colossal destructive power and enormous strength. Imagine the Incredible Hulk, but with a powerful dinosaur’s jaw!

Although Dinosaurus frequently clashes with Mark and the Guardians of the Globe due to his radical actions and opinions, it is worth noting that he will be crucial in the impending Viltrumite conflict, unexpectedly working alongside Mark.

This captivating adversary-turned-ally offers an intriguing exploration of the ethically complex aspects of being a superhero. With his background in the gritty courtroom drama “Perry Mason,” Matthew Rhys might just embody the character flawlessly.

If Robert Kirkman and his team continue with their usual approach to casting as they have in past seasons, we won’t discover the actors behind the main characters until Season 4 premieres. Let’s eagerly anticipate 2026 for that revelation!
