Who do Amazon want to play James Bond?

Discussing the upcoming Bond film, it’s confirmed that Denis Villeneuve will be directing (Edward Berger was also considered). This is a standalone project for Villeneuve, and he won’t have full creative control – a point of debate if Nolan ever takes on the role. Now, speculations revolve around who Amazon intends to cast as James Bond.

After the release of ‘No Time to Die’, there has been a flurry of discussions regarding who might assume the legendary role, with Idris Elba often mentioned as a strong contender. However, Henry Cavill and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, both aged 42 and 35 respectively (and Elba is 52), have also been frequently suggested. But it’s rumored that Amazon prefers someone under 30 for the role. So, who could they be eyeing?

As a film enthusiast, I’ve heard some intriguing whispers about three potential leading men – Jacob Elordi (“Saltburn”), Tom Holland (“Spider-Man”), and Harris Dickinson (“Babygirl”). Among them, Elordi might catch some attention, given he hails from Australia. However, let’s not forget that George Lazenby, another Aussie, made a striking James Bond. So, it seems we have a trend of down under talent shining brightly on the big screen!

As a passionate cinephile, I’m well aware that Denis Villeneuve, who’s deeply committed to bringing ‘Dune 3’ to the big screen, won’t be available for directing duties until late in 2026. With a new Bond film slated for release in 2028, it seems we’ll have to wait a while before he dons his director’s hat again. To make matters more intriguing, they’ve still got the task of finding a talented screenwriter to bring the project to life before then.
