Demonstrating that YouTube can be equally educational as traditional film schools, the Australian twins Danny and Michael Philippou, who go by RackaRacka online, have showcased their stunts and horror comedy shorts. These productions garnered them several awards and led to their debut feature film, ‘Talk to Me’, a supernatural horror centered around a group of teenagers exploring a dangerous new party trend involving an embalmed hand that serves as a portal to the spirit world. As they continue to push boundaries, the group inadvertently unleash powerful supernatural forces with devastating results. Check out our review HERE.
The movie showcases a talented ensemble of young actors such as Sophie Wilde (from “Babygirl”), Alexandra Jensen (“Beat”), and Joe Bird (“Rabbit”). They share the screen with established stars like Miranda Otto, known for her roles in “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Thin Red Line”, as well as Zoe Terakes from “The Office”.
The movie was acquired by distributors at Cannes, where it subsequently made a profit of nearly $92 million globally. Its sequel is about to be released. Meanwhile, the home entertainment label Second Sight has taken it under their wing, providing premium treatment with a limited edition box set featuring a sturdy slipcase, new artwork by Ann Bembi, and an accompanying 120-page book containing fresh essays.
The special edition of Talk To Me comes in a two-part format, containing both Ultra High Definition (UHD) and Blu-ray discs. Both discs feature the main movie and additional content. The film is enhanced with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Dolby Vision technology. Additionally, it offers an array of bonus features such as:
- New audio commentary by Emma Westwood and Sally Christie
- Audio commentary with writer–directors Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou
- Talk to Them: a new interview with Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou
- Conjuring Demons: a new interview with producer Samantha Jennings
- Beautifully Grotesque: a new interview with cinematographer Aaron McLisky
- Contagion: Kat Ellinger on Talk to Me
- Behind the Scenes of Talk to Me: archive featurette
- Behind the Scenes – No Spoilers: archive featurette
- Deleted Scenes
- Cast Interviews • Crew Interviews Limited Edition Contents
- Rigid slipcase with new artwork by Ann Bembi
- 120-page book with new essays by Alexandra Heller-Nicholas, Kat Hughes, Meagan Navarro, Cecilia Sayad, Rebecca Sayce and Amber T
- Six collectors’ art cards
I must admit, among all the films I’ve seen, nothing compares to the engaging commentary and delightful interviews with the directors of ‘Talk To Me’. They appear genuinely surprised by the film’s success upon release, but trust me, after watching it, you’ll understand why everyone was buzzing about it.
