It’s to get on your dancing shoes as Eurovision returns for a landmark 70th year!
Tonight, May 12th, the first group of 15 countries will perform, hoping to qualify for the grand final. Sweden is one of those countries – they nearly won last year, but will they have the same success this time?
Sweden’s representative this year is Felicia, a well-known and influential personality online.
As we wait to find out how she fares in the competition, read on for everything you need to know.

I’m such a fan of Felicia Eriksson, who performs as Felicia! She’s the incredibly talented voice behind Fröken Snusk, the artist who always wears that cool pink balaclava to stay mysterious. I first discovered her during Melodifestivalen 2024 and I’ve been hooked ever since – her voice is amazing!
Felicia started performing as a solo artist while wearing a mask to cover part of her face. In 2026, she returned to Melodifestivalen and won the chance to represent Sweden at Eurovision.
How old is Felicia?
Felicia is 24 years old.
What nationality is Felicia?
Felicia is Swedish, having been born in Tullinge, Sweden.
What is Sweden’s Eurovision 2026 song called?
Felicia will be singing “My System” for Sweden at the competition. The song was first developed at a songwriting workshop in Iceland with creators from different countries.
As a huge fan of Eurovision and all things pop, I found it fascinating to learn that this song’s writing team was incredibly international! It actually holds the record at Melodifestivalen – Sweden’s big pre-Eurovision contest – for having the most songwriters from different countries all collaborating on one track. They came from Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, which is pretty cool!

Where did Sweden come in the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest?
I was really rooting for Sweden! They ended up in fourth place with 321 points, and honestly, a lot of people – myself included – thought they had a real shot at winning beforehand.
They were represented by comedy band KAJ.

The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel participate this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.
Several countries are choosing not to participate in the contest this year because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.
In December 2025, the EBU held a meeting where members voted to establish rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly boosting certain songs to sway voting results. However, they did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.
The European Broadcasting Union announced that most of its members decided another vote on whether to continue with the contest wasn’t necessary. They confirmed that the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra safety measures added.
After that, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland announced they wouldn’t be competing in Eurovision this year.
Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has decided not to participate in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest due to the ongoing and devastating loss of life and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. RTÉ believes it would be inappropriate to participate while civilians continue to be at risk.
As a long-time viewer of the competition, I understand the BBC’s stance on this. They’ve publicly backed the EBU’s decision, explaining it’s about upholding the established rules and, importantly, ensuring the event remains inclusive for everyone. It’s a tough call, but they seem to believe the EBU did what was necessary.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
