Tonight’s the night for the Eurovision grand final! Twenty-four performers will compete for the title of champion.

I always believe the real decision lies with the people – both those on the national juries and those watching at home! It’s amazing to think voting is almost over, and soon we’ll find out who everyone chose as the winner after all the votes are carefully tallied.

As a huge Eurovision fan, I’m bracing myself for a long night until the voting finishes! But it’s not just about the performances we’re all waiting for – there’s so much more planned to keep things interesting. We’ll get special guest performances during the voting and other fun surprises throughout the show, which I’m really excited about.

I’m excited to report that Parov Stelar is confirmed to perform! If you’re familiar with his work, you know he’s a master of blending dance music with that classic swing sound – it’s going to be a really unique and energetic show.

César Sampson, who famously represented Austria in Eurovision, will be performing a heartfelt rendition of Billy Joel’s classic song, Vienna.

Reigning champion JJ will be returning to the stage to perform his winning song Wasted Love.

The Eurovision Song Contest has received a lot of criticism for letting Israel compete this year, given the current war happening in Gaza.

Several countries are choosing not to participate in the contest this year because the organization in charge, the European Broadcasting Union, decided against banning Israel from competing.

During a December 2025 meeting, the European Broadcasting Union voted to implement rules preventing governments or outside groups from unfairly boosting songs to sway voting results. However, they did not vote on whether Israel would be allowed to participate.

The European Broadcasting Union announced that most of its members decided another vote on whether to hold the contest wasn’t necessary. They confirmed that the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will go ahead as scheduled, with extra safety measures added.

After that, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland announced they wouldn’t be competing in Eurovision this year.

Ireland’s public broadcaster, RTÉ, has decided not to participate in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, citing the devastating situation in Gaza and the ongoing risk to civilian lives as the reason. They believe it would be inappropriate to participate given the current loss of life and humanitarian crisis.

The BBC, the UK broadcaster for the competition, backs the EBU’s decision. In a statement, they explained it’s about following the competition rules and ensuring everyone feels welcome.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
