Who Is Sadie Sink Playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

We’re getting our first look at Sadie Sink’s role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie. As Marvel’s Multiverse Saga nears its end, Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will likely be key to the story. Brand New Day continues the narrative from Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange made everyone forget Peter Parker’s identity. Though no longer an Avenger, Peter is still a hero, and the first trailer for Brand New Day highlights how much his skills have improved.

Details about the new movie are emerging. Spider-Man’s abilities are becoming increasingly unstable and difficult to control, so he seeks guidance from Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo). At the same time, he’s facing a separate challenge involving the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Sadie Sink, who is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe after her role in Stranger Things. Marvel is keeping the specifics of Sink’s character a secret for now.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Doesn’t Reveal Who Sadie Sink’s Character Is

The trailer doesn’t show much of Sadie Sink’s character, and while rumors suggested she might be a new ally for Spider-Man – with many fans speculating she’s playing Jean Grey from the X-Men – her appearance indicates she’s likely a villain. It seems she’s responsible for a breakout involving Damage Control, the government agency that handles superhumans, and is now on the run as a result.

Recent leaks seem to confirm earlier suspicions, including a revealing line of dialogue: Sink’s character warns Spider-Man, ā€œYou’re a mess… Don’t get in my way. Otherwise, it won’t just be your friends who forget who Peter Parker is.ā€ The fact that Marvel and Sony removed this line is noteworthy, implying it was crucial to the plot and potentially revealed too much. The line strongly suggests the character knows Peter Parker’s secret identity, possibly through telepathy or some other means of discovering his true self.

The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day showcases some unsettling abilities. Sadie Sink’s character appears to be a psychic who can control people’s bodies, and Spider-Man stops a runaway tank only to find a trapped civilian inside. We also see Damage Control agents acting as if they’re being manipulated like puppets. This strongly suggests the presence of psychic powers, which aligns with the abilities of Jean Grey, making the theory that she’s involved seem more plausible.

It’s the Perfect Time to Introduce Jean Grey into the MCU

Now is the ideal time to introduce Jean Grey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the Multiverse Saga wrapping up, the focus is shifting to mutants, and Jean Grey is a foundational character – one of the very first X-Men and the first student of Professor X. Introducing her now feels natural, and casting Sadie Sink, who has a prominent role in the current film, would be a smart move, further suggesting she’ll play a significant part in the MCU’s future.

Interestingly, this news comes alongside rumors about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. While the original X-Men from Fox are expected to appear, actress Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey, doesn’t seem to be involved. In the comics, Jean Grey is connected to a powerful, universe-spanning force called the Phoenix Force. Could it be more than a coincidence that one version of Jean is absent while another is potentially being introduced?

Could Sadie Sink Be Playing Typhoid Mary?

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told GamesRadar in July 2025 that while the ending of No Way Home is bittersweet—with Peter Parker being forgotten by everyone he knows—it finally shows Tom Holland’s Spider-Man truly becoming Spider-Man. For the first time, he’s on his own, focused on protecting the city by handling everyday crime instead of massive, world-threatening events that he previously dealt with alongside other heroes.

Despite the introduction of mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Ms. Marvel, some fans believe we won’t see an X-Man anytime soon. Another popular idea is that actor Charlie Sink has been cast as Typhoid Mary, a villain with multiple personalities who is connected to the criminal organization known as the Hand. The trailer for Brand New Day shows the Hand will be featured in the film, making this a plausible storyline.

Marvel’s Netflix shows did feature Typhoid Mary, portrayed by Alice Eve in Season 2 of Iron Fist. While Marvel has brought characters from Daredevil and Jessica Jones into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s unlikely Iron Fist will receive the same treatment, given its lower ratings. This means we can’t completely dismiss Sadie Sink as potentially playing Typhoid Mary in the MCU, but Jean Grey remains the most probable candidate.
