Meeting halfway hasn’t always been easy for Josh Duhamel and Fergie.
Josh Duhamel, known for his role in the Transformers movies and father to 12-year-old Axl Jack Duhamel with singer Fergie, recently shared more details about their 2017 split. He explained that their divorce was mainly due to having different perspectives on how to live their lives.
You know, I was chatting on the Skinny Confidential podcast recently, and I really opened up about my relationship. It’s true, Fergie and I see things differently – we have distinct perspectives on life. And honestly, that’s perfectly alright! It’s healthy to have your own viewpoints, even if they don’t always align.
Josh, 53, says he has no regrets about his marriage to the 50-year-old, even though they have different values. He emphasizes that they successfully co-parent their children and that his wife, Audra Mari (whom he married in 2022), gets along well with his ex-wife, Fergie.
He praised his ex-partner, saying she’s a wonderful mother. He appreciates that she’s kind and avoids conflict, which has helped them maintain a positive relationship. She also has a close and loving bond with their daughter, Audra.
Josh, who shares 2-year-old son Shepherd Lawrence Duhamel with Audra, previously revealed in October 2023 that he and Fergie had split. He admitted he never felt at ease with the intense public attention their relationship received.
He explained in an interview with Graham Bensinger that it had been overwhelming and he longed for a return to a more straightforward version of himself.
Despite their split, Josh and Fergie seem to have remained friendly. He’s often praised her for prioritizing her family.
He praised Fergie, calling her a wonderful person, during a September 2023 appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show. He noted she’s been supportive of their daughter, Audra, and expressed relief that the situation wasn’t worse, adding that you never know how things like this will turn out.
And for her part, the Grammy winner has heralded Josh as “a good co-parenting partner.”
In June 2018, she told Entertainment Tonight that everyone involved gets along great and feels like family. She described the atmosphere as loving and supportive.
