For 29 seasons, The Bachelor has consistently provided beautiful backdrops – from Iceland to the Maldives and Costa Rica – for finding love. But when it comes to those relationships lasting, the show’s success rate is pretty low.
Over the years, with the original The Bachelor and its many spin-offs like The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise, and Golden Bachelor, around sixty couples haven’t worked out. The reasons for these splits have varied from typical incompatibility – as Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes stated in their October 2021 announcement – to incredibly dramatic circumstances.
In his recently released memoir, Golden Years, Gerry Turner, the first “Golden Bachelor,” detailed the many reasons why his marriage to Theresa Nist didn’t last, suggesting things faded quickly – even faster than the sparkle on her wedding ring.
They often disagreed on important things, from where they should live—she loved New Jersey, while he preferred the peaceful countryside of Indiana—to how they managed their finances and even simple decisions like what to eat.
Looking back on things now, I realize there were warning signs I should have noticed,” the 74-year-old recently told Francesca Amiker of TopMob News.
Just a short time after getting engaged on the show’s ‘After the Final Rose’ special in March, warning signs began to appear in the relationship between Bachelor winner Juliana Pasquarosa and Grant Ellis.
The finale heavily featured Litia Garr, the runner-up, and her claim that Grant had assured her she was his top choice. Following the show, the two continued to discuss and resolve some difficult issues.
Juliana said on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast on December 2nd that the issue really came down to how he dealt with it, and whether he would take responsibility for his actions.

So, she’d like to steal the whole of Bachelor Nation for a sec.
We’ve both worked hard to keep our relationship private because we care about each other and I don’t want him to face any unfair criticism,” she said on the podcast. “But I think it’s time people understood what’s going on.
She’s certainly not the first former contestant to learn that even good things have downsides. And just as every night turns into a new day, each of the 74 contestants had their own reasons for leaving the show.

Length of Relationship: Eight months
Just three months after Litia Garr questioned him on After the Final Rose about leading her on, Grant announced that his engagement to Juliana had ended. In a June 2025 Instagram post, he explained that they had both tried hard and cared for each other deeply, but ultimately realized they weren’t a good long-term match.
Juliana shared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast in December 2025 that she was ready to be completely honest about what happened. She explained that shortly after ATFR aired, she was very upset and said some mean things during an argument. She was shocked the next morning when he immediately started discussing how they could publicly announce their breakup, even though she hadn’t yet decided if she wanted to end things.
She explained that the problem wasn’t really Litia saying she was his favorite, but rather how he reacted to it and his unwillingness to take responsibility for the situation.

Length of Engagement: Less than three months
Jenn proposed to Devin at the end of The Bachelorette season, but they broke up shortly after, as revealed during the After the Final Rose special.
The physician assistant student considered the moment she got engaged to the freight company owner in May 2024 the best day of her life, but things quickly changed. Jenn explained that Devin began to distance himself – he stopped responding to her messages and calls, visited less often, and displayed other warning signs. Ultimately, he ended their engagement with a phone call in August.
She revealed on a September podcast that he’d told her he no longer loved her and hadn’t felt connected since their engagement. He admitted he regretted proposing, which came as a shock to her. While she sensed things had changed, she hadn’t realized the extent of his feelings.
Devin acknowledged on AFR that he had concerns about his relationship with Jenn and wished he’d addressed them sooner. He stated he attempted to break up with her face-to-face and insisted he didn’t distance himself beforehand.
He explained in a now-deleted Instagram video—which showed their personal text messages and for which he later apologized—that he only started to withdraw and become distant after they broke up. He clarified this wasn’t an immediate reaction, but happened closer to the end of the month following the split.

Length of Marriage: Three months before divorce filing
The couple from the show, known for their love of the band Journey, have decided to end their marriage. Theresa, from New Jersey, and Gerry, from Indiana, announced their divorce in April 2024, just three months after getting married on television. They had previously planned to move to South Carolina together, but ultimately couldn’t agree on where to live.
As Gerry shared on Good Morning America, he believes it’s best for everyone involved to live separately, as it will lead to greater happiness.
Agreed Theresa, “We never got to the point where we made that decision.”
However, she later confessed this wasn’t the only factor.
She explained on the Almost Famous podcast in November 2024 that it’s not only about where someone is from. Her main point was that you can’t truly get to know a person in just four weeks.
In his November 2025 memoir, Golden Years, Gerry revealed a long list of disagreements he and Theresa had. They clashed over everything from food preferences to financial habits, but Turner said the biggest issue was Theresa deciding to postpone her retirement for another year to save more money, despite a previous agreement.
Gerry admitted he felt a bit annoyed because the woman hadn’t been truthful about her finances on the show. This made him question what else she might have been dishonest about or what other things he had misinterpreted.

The realtor explained that during the month between ending filming and getting engaged, he began to feel unworthy of her. He then hinted at the gossip surrounding the beginning of Victoria’s relationship with Greg Grippo, a former contestant on The Bachelorette. He admitted he wanted to believe her, but confessed he wasn’t sure he could.
She confirmed that she and Greg had become a couple, but their relationship didn’t begin until a trip to Italy in October – after they’d ended a difficult and unhealthy romance. She explained that once they were away from their usual environment, they had some concerns to work through. She told Greg she needed to be happy before considering marriage, and she wouldn’t get engaged unless she felt that way.
Victoria claimed her husband called her a highly offensive name and criticized her housekeeping, though he later said he was joking. Regarding accusations of infidelity, she stated she knows he’s aware they aren’t true, and believes it’s convenient to blame external factors for their relationship failing.

The model, who lives in Chicago, addressed fan concerns that she appeared distant with her former partner, explaining that a 20-minute conversation was edited down to just one minute in the show.
She explained on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast that they’d had important talks about their future, including whether to move to be closer to each other or continue a long-distance relationship. He emphasized he doesn’t defend what he did, calling it unfair and something that continues to bother him.

In a joint Instagram post, they explained that while the past year had brought them happiness, it also involved a lot of hardship. They acknowledged people would have questions, but noted they had kept much of their relationship private, as many couples do.
In the end, the difficulties outweighed any positives. They explained that while all relationships face challenges, they weren’t able to overcome the outside pressures that prevented them from healing, both individually and as a couple.

Rachael revealed that her partner, Matt, had concerns about their motivations for getting married. She explained in a January 2025 interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast that he worried about certain aspects of her personality and whether those traits would make her a good wife.
She explained that they simply weren’t a good match. He’d come to the realization that she expected a proposal by that point in their relationship, and he felt she should be wanting marriage. I was devastated when I saw it! Just two months after watching them get engaged on TV, they posted the exact same message on Instagram in October 2021 saying they were breaking up. It was this super formal, carefully worded thing – they said they were thankful for everything they shared and the whole experience this year, but they realized they just weren’t meant to be together long-term. They tried to make it sound nice, saying it was the ‘most caring choice’ to go their separate ways, but honestly, it just broke my heart. It felt so… fake, even though I was rooting for them so hard!
A few days later, Katie – who would later start dating John Hersey, the bartender she’d previously sent home – explained that the main problem was they just weren’t very happy as a couple.
A lot of people have been asking what happened between Katie and Blake. We were together for six months, and Blake and I are both pretty mature and communicate openly. We realized that if the first six months were anything to go by, continuing the relationship wouldn’t ultimately make either of us happy, so we decided to go our separate ways.

When Peter attempted to apologize, Hannah Ann challenged him, questioning if he was truly sorry for not acting on his feelings or keeping his promises. Hannah was stunned to discover that Jed, whom she’d chosen over Tyler Cameron during the Bachelorette finale after their engagement, reportedly came on the show while already in a relationship and with the intention of boosting his career. After confronting him about it, Hannah ended things with Jed.
She later clarified that she hadn’t agreed to the current situation. She explained that when she made those promises on her engagement day, she believed it was about her day, and she felt that day had been taken away from her.
Jed kept minimizing his past relationship, insisting he and his ex, Haley Stevens, were never actually a couple and that he wouldn’t cheat. However, he did apologize to Hannah, explaining that he’d acted out of fear, not love or respect. He admitted he’d been hesitant to be honest because he was afraid of losing her.

Hey everyone, so I wanted to address something that’s been circulating. After a lot of thought, I’ve decided I’m not going to be talking about it publicly.
