Why Kelly Ripa’s Neighbor “Lodged a Complaint” Over Halloween Candy

Kelly Ripa‘s Halloween didn’t end on such a sweet note.

On a recent talk show, she shared a funny story about trick-or-treating this Halloween. Apparently, a neighbor in New York actually complained about how she was giving out candy!

During a recent appearance on Live With Kelly & Mark, she mentioned they had to restock the candy twice because it kept selling out. She even said a woman approached her to complain that the candy was gone too soon – and the complainer was an adult!

The 55-year-old woman said someone asked her, “Where did your candy go this year?”

Kelly Ripa remembered her saying, ‘It looks like you used it all up.’ Ripa asked what time she had checked, and the other person replied, ‘Around 8:30 PM.’

But for Kelly, that seems to be a reasonable time to run out of treats.

“I said, ‘No, it’s over then,'” she continued. “‘You’ll have to come earlier next year.'”

Her husband, Mark Consuelos, playfully responded, saying he wished he’d gotten that complaint himself.

Kelly’s Halloween candy always disappears fast, and for good reason. She likes to give out plenty of treats – even more than usual – to make sure every trick-or-treater is happy.

In November 2023, the former Days of Our Lives actress explained on her talk show that she used to put two candy bars in each trick-or-treat bag. She was frustrated with kids who would complain about the candy they received and ask for something different.

She continued, “This way, you get a bag, move on.”

Even so, Sarah and Mark can’t make everyone happy. For example, a neighbor on Long Island apparently once complained about the music they played for Halloween.

Mark recalled that after a Halloween party in 1999, they received a complaint about the noise, as he mentioned in October 2023.

The Riverdale actor said their neighbor complained to the police about the loud music, specifically that they were playing “Monster Mash” too much.

“The party was from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” he added. “It was a kids’ party.”
