It’s pretty clear that Robyn Brown, from the show Sister Wives, doesn’t really enjoy dancing with her husband, Kody Brown.
You know, as I was watching the latest episode, Kody shared something really relatable – the struggle to keep the spark alive in a long-term relationship. He was talking about wanting to go out and have fun with Robyn, but it apparently backfired. She playfully, but honestly, told him his dancing made him feel like a performer and her like…well, the dance pole! It just goes to show, even when you’re trying to be spontaneous and connect, things don’t always land the way you hope, and communication is key!
And while her husband of 15 years is workin’ it, Robyn tends to feel, uh, exposed.
She described how he dances with her as if she were just a prop, or something he dances around, rather than a partner. “It feels like I’m an accessory to him,” she said while taking a dance lesson at Arizona’s The Museum Club with Zoo Crew Dance.
They just don’t dance the same way. She explained that he’s very energetic and loves to put on a show, while she prefers a more relaxed approach. He wants to add a lot of movement and excitement, and she just wants to enjoy the dance.
As a result, she’s left less-than thrilled.
Honestly, watching him is… a lot. I get it, he’s enthusiastic, but it’s just not me. It makes me cringe, truly. It feels like he’s in his own world, completely lost in the moment, and I’m just… standing here. It’s like he isn’t even with anyone else, you know? I could never be that… out there. It’s just not comfortable for me to watch, and definitely not something I could ever pull off myself.

Kody has a habit, which his former wife Christine Brown described as the “pump dance.” She explained it’s a repetitive movement involving his arms, hips, and head.
As Robyn explained to him during a dinner date filmed for the show, he tends to get caught up in dramatic behavior.
Added the mom of five, “I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do with that.”
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! Kody, with his… unique way of looking at things, once called dancing together “a vertical expression of a horizontal wish” – seriously! But get this, he actually agreed to take a dance lesson with Christine! Can you imagine? It’s just… everything!
He was simply trying to reconnect with his last wife.
As a lifestyle expert, I often hear from parents who describe a shift in their relationship when kids come along. It’s so common to fall into ‘co-parenting mode’ – feeling more like teammates than romantic partners. Our focus naturally turns to the children, and it feels like there’s a constant stream of little ones popping in for connection – a hug, a chat, or just a little bit of our attention. It’s sweet, of course, but it can definitely change the dynamic and leave parents feeling like their bedroom door is always open!
Kody, who has recently separated from his former wives Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine, is also seeking a close connection with his current wife, Robyn. He explained that emotional intimacy is something he and Robyn consistently need in their relationship.
These days, the now-monogamous pair are learning how to navigate their new normal.
Kody was happy to tone down his dancing, but he’d really like it if Robyn felt comfortable adding some flair to her performances as well.
Kody shared on a recent episode of the show that he wants to reach a point in a relationship where his partner feels comfortable enough to playfully slap his rear end while they’re out in public, like at a mall. He sees this as a sign of a deep and comfortable connection.
Though, admittedly, he could always get behind more PDA.
Kody admitted he’d always felt comfortable flirting with Robyn, even while still married to his other wives. He believes it will simply take Robyn some time to adjust to their new monogamous relationship.
And that’s not all! This season, the family patriarch has been sharing some really insightful thoughts, and I want to share a few more with you. Let’s dive in, shall we?

Now that her divorce from Kody Brown is final, Janelle Brown shared on the season 20 premiere of Sister Wives that she’s taking a similar approach to Meri Brown.
Although they were married for 29 years, Christine was never legally married to Kody. She explained on the show’s premiere that she’d considered ending their relationship spiritually a long time ago, but didn’t know it was possible. When Meri pursued a spiritual divorce, Christine asked her who she needed to contact to do the same.
Janelle’s former sister wife—who had previously been released from their church due to feeling abandoned—gladly offered some information. Janelle explained, “She’s been really helpful in connecting me with everyone.”

Madison Brush is still dealing with the fallout from her father’s actions. Despite being estranged from Kody, Madison – one of his six children with Janelle – shared on the September 28th episode that she continues to struggle with their separation.
The mother of four admitted she hopes her husband’s father will be present, and that she desires a resolution to their issues. She acknowledged her own role in the situation, but expressed frustration as she continues to work on managing her expectations and avoiding disappointment.
She’s finding it difficult to accept him as he is. She explained that she’s working on understanding that he may not have known how to be there for her, and that he could be going through his own pain.
He also might not be willing to cede too much ground.
As a longtime follower, it’s heartbreaking to see everything unfold. Kody keeps talking about wanting to repair things with Meri, Janelle, and especially Christine – it’s clear he wants things to work with all the kids too. But he admits they’ve reached a point where any chance of getting better depends entirely on them deciding if and how that happens. He feels stuck because he says the healing can only happen if they choose it, on their own terms.

Robyn Brown, Kody’s last remaining wife, says she always desired a family, not just a relationship with him. In the September 28th episode, she shared that she had received marriage proposals before – not always formal proposals with a ring, but several men had expressed interest in marrying her at various points in time.
She consistently stated she was open to the idea of plural marriage, saying something along the lines of, ‘I was prepared to consider living in a marriage with multiple partners.’ She added that if Kody hadn’t already been married with three wives at the time, she would have given him the same answer.
Kody explained that, unexpectedly finding themselves in a monogamous relationship, he felt it was now just the two of them, saying, “It’s you and me, baby.”
Though he admittedly had one concern.
I’ve always believed relationships are about finding what truly fulfills you, and Kody expressed this to Robyn quite directly. He hinted at feeling a disconnect in their intimacy, explaining his perspective on polygamy. He felt that a man in a plural marriage should be getting more satisfaction than someone in a traditional, one-on-one relationship, while a monogamous partner often feels like something is missing. It really boils down to meeting individual needs, and he clearly felt his weren’t being met.

Okay, so I’m totally obsessed with Meri, and she’s finally putting herself out there! She knows exactly what she wants, which is amazing. She said on the show that she needs a tall guy, obviously, but the biggest things for her are someone who loves to travel – she’s a huge road trip person, you guys! – and this is SO important, absolutely NO cats allowed. It has to be a dog person. Seriously, a dog person is non-negotiable! I’m just living for this, it’s so exciting!
And she definitely needs someone who won’t scare easily.
She described a difficult dating experience where a man ended their conversation as soon as he learned she practiced polygamy. He told her he wasn’t interested in continuing the conversation, and she found that very hurtful. She felt rejected simply because of her relationship style.
Meri explained that it was the first time she truly understood that some people would be hesitant to even begin a conversation with her because of who she was.

Janelle firmly believes she was the only one in her large family who really desired to settle on Coyote Pass.
On the October 3rd episode of the show, Janelle revealed she never really envisioned the entire family living on the 14-acre Coyote Pass property they bought before moving to Flagstaff, Arizona in 2018. She admitted she wasn’t sure it was ever truly her dream.
From what I’ve observed, Kody’s second wife actually liked the idea of living on that property – she thought it was lovely and wondered why not! But she felt it was just a temporary enthusiasm for him and the other wives, not a long-term plan. It seemed like a fleeting interest on their part, rather than a real commitment to building a life there.
She explained that no one was eager to live in that area, especially not Christine. Meri would have agreed to move if everyone else had been willing.
Janelle explained that Kody and Robyn’s former property, a two-acre home with five bedrooms that they recently sold for $1.7 million, felt unfinished despite being mostly built.
Janelle explained that despite the initial agreement to divide the land into four pieces, she quickly realized after moving to Flagstaff that it wouldn’t work out.

Kody believes he knows why his relationships with most of his adult children (excluding Robyn’s oldest, Dayton, and her daughters Aurora and Breanna) aren’t very good.
Okay, so I was listening to him on the show, and he finally admitted it – things with his grown kids are really tough. He said it’s all about little digs and hints, just constant negativity, and it’s completely messed up everyone’s relationships. Like, it’s broken down trust on all sides, and honestly, it’s heartbreaking to hear. I just want them to get along, you know? It’s just… so sad to see!
And these days, not many of his grown kids are on Team Kody.
Even though Mykelti Padron, one of Christine’s six children, had seemed the most publicly supportive of her father, she shared her thoughts on the family split several months after she, her husband Tony Padron, and their three children moved to North Carolina.
She believes that if he simply took responsibility for his actions, at least some of his children might try to reconnect with him. Instead of constantly blaming his kids, their feelings about his new marriage, or outside influences, a sincere apology and willingness to discuss things – like saying, ‘I understand I made a mistake. I’m sorry. Can we talk?’ – would make a huge difference, she explained during a fan Q&A in October 2024 shared on Instagram (@withoutacrystalball).

When Coyote Pass was sold in April 2025, Janelle and Meri finalized their separations from Kody and received money from the sale. Christine had previously traded her share of the land for the profit from selling her house in Arizona.
On the October 5th episode, Janelle playfully told Meri it felt like saying, “Goodbye, and I don’t expect to see you again.”
But she certainly wouldn’t have waved off an even nicer present.
She stated that if she had been legally married to Kody, she would have rightfully claimed half of his possessions, as they would have been considered jointly owned.

Kody and Robyn had to review the contract for their new $2.1 million home before they could give up on their plans for Coyote Pass. Kody explained on the October 12th episode that selling Coyote Pass only became possible when they found a different house they really wanted. After months of discussing the large property with his former wives, they were finally able to move forward with the sale.
The father of 18 children is also hoping to leave behind the painful memories associated with their old house. He explained, “We’ve gone through a lot of difficult times here, and we’re looking forward to a fresh start – a completely new chapter in our lives.”

Kody believed that loving multiple wives meant he had more love to give, but he admitted his attention wasn’t always shared equally. He explained on the October 19th episode that he found it hard to fully commit to each of his wives, and they, in turn, didn’t always feel fully committed to him or to each other.
Looking back, he thinks one mistake was giving Robyn a lavish lifestyle – a $1.65 million, five-bedroom house – while his other wives had more modest living arrangements. He admitted he doesn’t understand why his marriages to Meri, Janelle, and Christine ended, but believes the house created jealousy. He felt he had gone to great lengths to provide for Robyn, and his other wives struggled with that disparity.

Christine found it difficult to relax around Kody. As she explained on the October 26th episode, he was a very demanding husband with many specific needs and preferences, including what he ate and how he took care of himself.
Bottom line, she noted, “It was a lot.”
Janelle isn’t eager to start a new romantic relationship after her separation from Kody. She admitted to Christine and her husband, David Woolley, that being with Kody was very demanding, and she believes relationships in general require a lot of effort.
She’s strongly opposed to David’s suggestions that she join FarmersOnly, explaining to the cameras, “David just doesn’t understand that I’m not interested in dating right now. I keep telling him, ‘No, no, no!'”

Kody generally avoided accidentally calling his wives by the wrong name. Christine explained in a recent episode that he was careful, saying, “There are times you really don’t want to hear another woman’s name, and he never made that mistake.”
Though there were some close calls.
I often found myself doing that,” Kody confessed. “I definitely have, and I sometimes started arguments only to change the subject or shift the blame.

To hear Christine tell it, she felt quite stabbed in the kidney by her former sister wife.
She told David on the November 2nd episode that she felt deeply hurt by Robyn, explaining she’d lost all trust in her. She shared that she used to tell Robyn private things, but those confidences would somehow cause problems with Kody, leading to him getting upset. Because of this, she stopped sharing anything personal with Robyn.
But Robyn insisted she was just trying to play marriage counselor.
Christine often told me she wished Kody could understand what she was going through, saying she was really struggling. I was young and thought I could fix things, but looking back, I realize I should have let them handle it themselves.

Meri used to be flattered by the idea that Kody favored her among his ex-wives, but when he tried to chat over video about selling their house in Arizona, she wasn’t interested in being friendly.
He reflected on a conversation with Janelle, recalling that things used to be good with Meri – he specifically remembered helping her move to Parowan, Utah, and having a fun, friendly time. But he noted that their relationship has become strained since then.
Meri maintained she was only interested in business matters, especially after hearing Kody’s comments on camera in earlier seasons.
I had to be firm and set clear limits with him,” she said. “It’s frustrating when he acts friendly on video calls and pretends everything is okay after some of the hurtful things he’s said to me and my friends – I won’t tolerate that behavior.

Christine happily accepted David’s marriage proposal last year, but her ex-husband believes he should have been consulted beforehand.
Kody explained that his youngest daughter, Truely, lives with David, and he feels he should get to know him better.
In fact, he mused, he “should have had the right, even, to discriminate David.”

Janelle was happy to get her part of the Coyote Pass property back and wasn’t upset about the money she’d already given Robyn and Kody towards their house in Arizona.
She explained on the November 2nd episode that her children think she should try to recover the money she invested in Robyn’s house, but she anticipates a difficult legal battle to do so.
I’ve noticed that whenever she tries to ask Kody for financial help, there’s always some excuse. He always has a ton of reasons why he doesn’t think he owes the money, it’s incredibly frustrating to watch.
He felt he’d already paid back Janelle for her help with the house. “Janelle helped Robyn and me buy our house, and I took care of that debt back in January,” he explained. “After that, in January or February, she told me, ‘We’re even, you don’t owe me anything. It was more than fair.'”

Should Kody still be interested in having his love multiplied, there’s no shortage of options.
He told Robyn on November 2nd that he’d received another email from a woman discussing plural marriage.
He told Robyn that his former wife was upset with his decision to end plural marriage. Then, surprisingly, she offered to become part of their family, essentially asking if she could join Kody and Robyn. He described it as her confronting him and then suggesting she’d like to get to know them with the intention of becoming another wife.
Robyn didn’t immediately reject the idea, and later confessed she briefly wondered if it could actually work. She admitted thinking, ‘This is what I’ve always dreamed of,’ and even considered whether they’d be a good match.
Ultimately, though, it was a no.
She was upset they contacted Kody directly. She believes it’s generally more respectful to approach a man through his wives, rather than contacting him directly.

Even though Kody now admits his strained relationship with his children is a major family issue, he needs to make significant changes to improve things.
On a recent episode of the show, Janelle revealed that Maddie didn’t tell her father, Kody, about her fourth pregnancy. Janelle explained that there was no need to inform him, as they hadn’t spoken in two or three years. She added that he would eventually find out.

Janelle didn’t just want a relationship with Kody; she also desired a connection with his existing family. Meri recalled that when Janelle married Kody three years into his marriage with Meri—following a short marriage to Meri’s brother—Janelle seemed considerate of Meri’s feelings. Meri shared on the November 9th episode that Janelle acted in a way that included her and avoided causing hurt.
Meri admitted that she felt jealous and a mix of other emotions as they navigated the challenges of trying to make plural marriage work. She also said it made her feel cherished that her partner was willing to try.
