Picking the best superhero movie ever made isn’t easy. There are so many things to consider! Do you prefer the classic comic book action of The Avengers, the dark and realistic tone of The Dark Knight, a hopeful hero like Superman, or something completely unique like Kick-Ass?

Look, I’ve seen a lot of superhero movies, and honestly, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse just hits different. It’s everything you want – incredible story, amazing visuals, and a ton of heart. I was really disappointed it seemed to fly under the radar when it first came out, probably because it’s animated. But trust me, if you skipped it then, you need to check it out now that it’s on Netflix. Seriously, it’s the best superhero movie out there, and you’re doing yourself a favor by watching it.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Is A Great Origin Story

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is many things, but fundamentally, it’s a brilliantly crafted origin story. This might seem unnecessary, as we’ve already seen the beginnings of heroes like Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne countless times – recent films often skip retelling those familiar stories altogether.

We’re all familiar with Peter Parker’s story, but Miles Morales offers a fresh perspective, and the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse successfully introduced him to a wide audience. It’s a difficult challenge to introduce a new hero, but the film handles it exceptionally well, starting with making Miles Morales a character viewers can easily connect with.

Similar to Peter Parker, Miles is figuring out who he is and dealing with expectations from his parents and a new school. When he gets superpowers, his life becomes even more complicated, and we experience it all with him. Luckily, he’s not alone – other Spider-People are there to help.

This is key because it delivers exciting superhero moments even when the main character isn’t fully involved. A fantastic scene shows Peter B. Parker and Gwen Stacy rescuing him from Olivia Octavius. Later, they team up with Peter Porker, Peni Parker, and Spider-Man Noir to fight bad guys right at Aunt May’s house.

Even though Miles isn’t quite prepared for these big fights, the movie still delivers exciting action while showing us how he’s growing into Spider-Man. The scene where he takes a leap of faith, set to the song “What’s Up Danger,” is a truly inspiring superhero moment, and it feels well-deserved after everything he’s been through.

The Multiverse Is Expertly Showcased In Into The Spider-Verse

Okay, let me tell you, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse really impressed me. It’s amazing how well it works as Spider-Man’s origin story while also tackling this incredibly complex idea of a multiverse and, like, a ton of different Spider-People. It sounds like a lot – and it is! – but the movie handles it all with such skill and makes it feel surprisingly smooth and engaging.

While the sequel, Across the Spider-Verse, explores this idea further, the first movie explains it in a way that’s easy to understand. We clearly see who the different Spider-People are, how they ended up in Miles’ world, and what that might mean for the future. It’s a story everyone can enjoy.

The Animation Style & Cast Of Into The Spider-Verse Are As Good As It Gets

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and its unique animation style was a major reason why. The movie looks and feels like a comic book come to life, which really set it apart.

Every Spider-Person – whether it’s Miles, Gwen, Peni, or others – has a distinct way of moving and appearing. When you see them all together, it creates a really special and exciting visual experience. The addition of comic book elements like speech bubbles and panels makes the movie feel incredibly fresh and different.

Beyond its fantastic story, thrilling action, and stunning animation, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse features an incredibly talented voice cast. Shameik Moore perfectly embodies Miles, Hailee Steinfeld is a standout as Gwen, James Johnson is charming as Peter B. Many superhero movies have the potential to be great, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is no exception. This is particularly true for Spider-Man himself, as most of his films have been well-received.

Despite strong competition from other great Spider-Man movies – including the recent Tom Holland films and the highly-regarded Spider-Man 2 from 2004 – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stands out as the best Spider-Man film yet. It’s a truly exceptional movie that’s hard to beat.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse feels like the best of all the Spider-Man movies combined. It has the compelling beginning of the 2002 Spider-Man, the heartfelt story of Spider-Man 2, a strong villain similar to Spider-Man: Homecoming, and the exciting multiverse idea from Spider-Man: No Way Home. The fact that it manages to pull all of these elements together and look amazing makes it a truly perfect superhero film.
