Zoey Deutch set up a new term to describe her relationship with fiancé Jimmy Tatro.
The actress who played Juror #2 explained that she prefers not to be called a ‘fiancée’ and has playfully chosen a different term to describe her engagement.
Actress Zoey Deutch jokingly admitted she avoids using the word “fiancé” because she finds it sounds a bit snobby. During a November 26th interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, she explained she often refers to her fiancé simply as “Beyoncé” instead.
She confessed she wasn’t sure how her future husband felt about changing names, but didn’t seem too concerned about it.
She shared that her engagement to Tatro, 33 – which she’d announced on Instagram in September with a heartwarming post – wasn’t a secret. They had been planning it for a while.
“I probably shouldn’t say it, but I saw it coming,” she explained. “I felt it a little.”
We were on vacation in Corsica, and I’d carefully planned everything – I actually work as a travel agent on the side,” she told Jimmy Fallon with a laugh. “When we got there, my husband casually mentioned he’d planned dinner for Monday. I immediately pointed out that I had too, and that he must have seen it on the shared Google Doc we were using.
When the Set it Up star let the itinerary change slide, both were on to each other.
Deutch explained that the other person realized she already had all the details. He later learned that this person immediately texted Deutch’s best friend, commenting that she hadn’t asked any questions about the plans – like the restaurant or the food – because she already knew everything.
It became clear something was up when her boyfriend, an actor from Theater Camp whom she’d been dating since 2021, hinted she should hold onto a white dress for a later occasion.
Deutch remembered that the following night, while trying on clothes, she put on a white dress. Her husband immediately asked if she planned to wear it on Monday, which she found amusing and playfully called him out for.
That being said, some elements were kept under wraps from the Why Him? actress.
She explained that she had no idea what to expect – how he would propose, what he’d say, or even what the ring would be like. Because of this, everything was a complete surprise.
All in all, the engagement was, as she gushed, “one of the best nights of my life.”
