Something Wicked this way comes.
Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Ethan Slater will all be at the New York premiere of Wicked: For Good. The movie, directed by John M. Chu, is set to release on November 21, 2024.
I was so excited to be at the premiere on November 17th – it was the place to be! So many amazing stars were there, including Nina Dobrev, Constance Wu, Claire Danes, Megan Hilty, and even Trisha Paytas. We were all there to celebrate the movie, which brings the story from the second half of the original Broadway musical to life.
Cynthia recently told listeners of Wicked: The Official Podcast that she’s thrilled for audiences to see how much the characters have grown and changed since the last time they encountered them. She described it as a significant and impactful journey.
In fact, it’s a labor of love spanning nearly half a decade to make.
“It’s amazing how fast time flies,” Cynthia said, sounding surprised. “It feels like just yesterday we were somewhere else, and so much incredible stuff has happened since then – so many great memories and experiences.”
Ariana is very emotionally connected to the making of the Wicked movies, all of which were filmed in England.
She expressed immense gratitude and excitement on the podcast, revealing a long-held secret. She explained that the latter part of her story had been hidden for years, but unfolded simultaneously with the earlier events. She emphasized that the two parts are completely connected and inseparable—one couldn’t have happened without the other.

While Wicked: For Good concludes the story for Cynthia and Ariana’s characters, Elphaba and Glinda, the actresses aren’t ruling out future collaborations.
You know, I’ve been thinking a lot about this, and honestly, I believe this is something we’ll be navigating for a while. It’s not a temporary fix, but surprisingly, that’s okay! In fact, I think there’s a lot of good to be found in embracing it long-term. It’s a change, sure, but one I believe we can truly thrive with.
