Wicked: For Good soundtrack – all the songs in Part Two including original compositions

Fans of the musical Wicked have waited a long time for the continuation of the story, but the second part of the movie adaptation is finally coming to theaters this weekend.

Following the success of the first film, ‘Wicked: For Good’ – named after a popular song from the show – brings audiences back to the vibrant world of Oz with plenty of familiar and beloved songs. This time around, the movie also includes several brand new, original musical numbers.

As a long-time fan of Stephen Schwartz’s work, I was thrilled to hear he’s contributed two original songs to this film – one specifically for Cynthia Erivo and another for Ariana Grande. From what I’ve gathered so far, these new tracks aren’t trying to overshadow the classics, but rather blend seamlessly with the beloved songs we already know. It sounds like a perfect fit, and I’m really excited to hear how they enhance the overall musical experience.

Want to know which songs from the original Wicked made it into For Good, and what new music has been added? Here’s everything you need to know about the Wicked: For Good soundtrack, including how and where to listen online and where to buy CDs and vinyl records.

What are the new songs in Wicked: For Good?

The songs in the original movie were all from the stage production, though some were lengthened. For this new film, however, the creator, Stephen Schwartz, wrote two completely new songs – one specifically for each main character.

Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, will perform a new song called “No Place Like Home.” She told Variety in December that the song is particularly meaningful to her.

She shared that everyone on set cried while filming the scene. She believes the song really captures the essence of Elphaba and hopes viewers will be deeply moved.

A 30-second segment of the song has already debuted ahead of the film’s release.

Ariana Grande’s song for her role as Glinda in the upcoming Wicked film is titled “The Girl in the Bubble.” In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Grande shared that she felt very thankful to be able to perform the song.

As a fan, I’m really excited to see Glinda take control and actively choose to be a force for good in Oz. It’s not just about being ‘good,’ but about making Oz a truly safe place for everyone. What I love is that she earns her title of Glinda – we get to witness her journey of self-discovery, and honestly, that song feels so well-deserved for her character!

I understand they had to split the story into two movies, and honestly, it makes sense. Trying to cram everything into one film would have made it way too lengthy, and they wanted to do the story justice. I’m glad they chose to give it the space it needed!

Even though the process was challenging, it sparked some creative ideas and resulted in a couple of new songs. It’s been a real honor to write while thinking about Cynthia and Ariana’s unique voices.

The film’s opening song, ‘Every Day More Wicked,’ isn’t a completely original piece, but rather a more developed version of the start of the original ‘Thank Goodness.’
