Is the Wild Horse Nine trailer the first 2027 Oscar contender?
The trailer for “Wild Horse Nine” just dropped, and it’s already generating Oscar buzz for 2027. That’s because the film is written and directed by Martin McDonagh, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind critically acclaimed movies like In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and The Banshees of Inisherin. It’s common for potential award winners to be previewed at film festivals like Toronto and Venice, and released between September and Christmas.
The story of the Wild Horse Nine trailer
Just before the 1973 coup in Chile, CIA agents Chris and Lee are sent from Santiago to Easter Island by their boss, MJ. While surrounded by the island’s famous statues, the veteran partners grapple with their troubled histories and current secrets. Chris’s connection with two outspoken students puts their mission – and everyone involved – in jeopardy.
