Acme is getting exposed in Coyote vs. Acme.
Let me tell you about Wile E. Coyote, a character brought to life by the brilliant Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese. He first appeared way back in 1949, in a short called Fast and Furry-ous, and was basically a hilarious send-up of all those classic cat-and-mouse chases we were seeing back then. Interestingly, the creators drew inspiration from Mark Twain’s Roughing It! The whole joke, of course, is that Wile E. is constantly trying to catch the Road Runner using these ridiculously unreliable gadgets from the ACME Corporation – and predictably, everything always goes horribly wrong for the poor coyote. It’s slapstick gold!
Warner Bros. just released a new trailer for their upcoming film, Coyote vs. Acme. The movie centers around Wile E. Coyote taking legal action against Acme, the company responsible for the dangerous and often painful situations he constantly finds himself in. The film features a talented cast, including Will Forte, Lana Condor, John Cena, and P.J. Byrne, and classic Looney Tunes characters like Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, and Daffy Duck will also appear.
For years, Wile E. Coyote has endured countless attempts to destroy him – from explosions and landslides to bizarre contraptions and sheer bad luck. After being blasted, crushed, tricked, and generally tormented by everything imaginable, he’s finally decided to take action.
He partners with Kevin Avery, a lawyer specializing in accidents caused by billboards (Forte), to go up against Buddy Crane (John Cena), a polished corporate lawyer, and ACME, Inc. – the greedy company responsible for all of the Coyote’s mishaps.
Dave Green, who previously directed films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Earth to Echo, is directing the new movie, which blends live-action with animation. James Gunn, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy, Superman, and the upcoming Supergirl film, wrote the screenplay.
After more than ten years in development and being put on hold by Warner Bros. three years ago, fans of the Looney Tunes were unsure if this movie would ever come out. Fortunately, Ketchup Entertainment picked up the film in 2025. Just before the trailer’s release, Deadline announced that Ketchup has partnered with V10 Entertainment, who will now handle sales for all of Ketchup’s films.
Coyote vs. Acme will be crash landing into theaters on August 28.
