WNBA’s Angel Reese Reacts to Atlanta Dream Trade

Angel Reese is living the dream.

The WNBA player expressed her excitement about joining the Atlanta Dream, just one day after news of her trade from the Chicago Sky became public. She said she’s looking forward to this new phase of her career.

I was so thrilled to hear from Angel at the launch of her Victoria’s Secret campaign in New York! She told TopMob News, and I’m quoting her because it was amazing, that she’d been dreaming of this moment. It really feels like she’s living the life – she even said she’s basically living in a real-life Barbie Dreamhouse and having the time of her life, and honestly, good for her!

Honestly, things are just fantastic right now! I’m 23 and so thrilled to be starting this new chapter in a new city, and I have a really good feeling about everything that’s ahead.

Angel, known online as “Bayou Barbie,” shared her excitement about the trade on Instagram with two posts on April 6th, showcasing photos of herself in Atlanta apparel.

In her first post, the athlete thanked the fans of the Chicago Sky in a video.

She expressed her gratitude to Chicago in a video, saying the city showed her love from the very beginning. She affectionately referred to Chicago as ‘Chi-Town Barbie’ and thanked the city for its continued support.

And in the second post, she made a reference to her nickname by captioning the shots, “ATL BARBIE.”

Angel was selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA draft by the Chicago Sky. Despite only playing for the team for two seasons, she quickly became a standout player.

Angel led the league in double-doubles in 2025 and was her team’s top scorer and passer. ESPN also noted she’s the only WNBA player ever to average 12 or more rebounds in a season two years in a row.

Angel isn’t just settling into life in Atlanta; she’s also working with Victoria’s Secret. This comes just six months after she made history as the first professional athlete to ever walk in their fashion show.

Angel shared with TopMob News on April 7th that she received a lot of support, particularly as she started her modeling career. She expressed her excitement about this campaign being her first, saying it was a great opportunity.

As for what she wants other people to know when it comes to feeling runway-ready?

Angel advised, “Simply be yourself. When you look in the mirror, remind yourself that you are capable and worthy. I want you to know, personally from me, that you are enough, no matter who you are.”

“And I hope you feel inspired,” she added, “and continue to push through life.”
