Bob Odenkirk has responded to some rumors suggesting he was supposed to star in Wonder Man.
I just finished watching Wonder Man on Disney+, and it’s a solid addition to the Marvel universe. Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest have crafted a show centered around Simon Williams, played brilliantly by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. A fun highlight? Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery, seamlessly fitting back into the MCU storyline. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of Marvel’s TV offerings.
What did Bob Odenkirk say about Wonder Man and the MCU?
Before Wonder Man came out, online rumors claimed Bob Odenkirk was cast in the series. Some reports even said he’d be playing Simon’s agent. However, Odenkirk now states he was never considered for any role in the Marvel show, leaving the truth of those rumors uncertain.
Bob Odenkirk, known for his role in Better Call Saul, recently addressed rumors about him appearing in the upcoming movie Wonder Man. He told The Direct he hadn’t heard the rumors, but had seen a billboard for the film and thought it looked fantastic. He added that the idea of being involved ‘sounds like fun’.
Odenkirk enthusiastically said he’d be very interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He praised the talented actors and dedicated people involved, mentioning a positive past conversation with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. He expressed admiration for the effort and creativity that goes into building the MCU.
It’s interesting to note that Bob Odenkirk previously said he wasn’t interested in joining Marvel Studios. In an interview with The Independent a few years ago, he explained that he prefers roles in more realistic, down-to-earth stories. He felt he was better suited to playing characters who feel like ordinary people you might know.
It’s unclear whether Bob Odenkirk’s comments suggest he’s secretly negotiating a role in a Marvel project, or if he simply changed his mind about returning to acting. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
Wonder Man has been renewed for a second season, but we don’t know when it will be released yet.
