Wonder Woman’s Most Underrated Villain Finally Returns

Wonder Woman has been through a lot lately, and things are about to get even harder. The past few years have been incredibly busy for her. Her people were banned from the U.S. as part of a sneaky plan by a powerful enemy known as the Sovereign. This enemy, the long-hidden king of America, pushed Diana to her breaking point, and tragically, she lost Steve Trevor, the man she loved. While Diana managed to capture the Sovereign and get revenge for Steve, this was just the start of her new challenges.

Wonder Woman faced a difficult challenge when Mouse Man, a former petty criminal, rose to power as the dictator of a small country. No one else would intervene, so Wonder Woman bravely went into enemy territory to stop him. The country’s citizens were living in fear under his oppressive rule, but Wonder Woman successfully overthrew him and freed the nation. However, with a larger war looming, Diana is now heading back to Themyscira, only to find new problems already brewing before she can even catch her breath.

Strife Returns to Sew Discord Among Wonder Woman and the Amazons

I just finished reading Wonder Woman #29, and it was really touching! Diana finally makes it back to Paradise Island to see her sister, Nubia, but you can tell she’s carrying a lot on her shoulders and worried about what’s to come. It was lovely to see Nubia and the other Wonder Girls reminding her that she doesn’t have to face everything by herself. There’s a sweet moment where Diana asks the Amazons to watch her daughter, Lizzie, for a little while so she can have some quiet time to think, but poor Lizzie is being extra fussy and the Amazons aren’t quite sure how to soothe her. It’s a really human moment amidst all the superheroics.

Yara suggests a practice fight to comfort the baby, and despite Nubia’s concerns, the Wonder Girls agree to perform for Elizabeth. It begins playfully, but the demonstration quickly turns competitive, with Yara, Cassandra, and Donna starting to trade harsh words. Unfortunately, it isn’t helping Elizabeth, who begins to cry even more. Some Amazons realize the situation is escalating, but the fight continues, becoming increasingly wild and aggressive.

The Amazons discover someone is manipulating Elizabeth to fuel the Wonder Girls’ rage. Nubia stops the escalating situation, helping Donna, Yara, and Cassie calm down. They realize Elizabeth’s distress calls aren’t her own, but are being used by someone who understands how to create conflict within their ranks. It turns out to be Strife, also known as Eris, the goddess of discord, who has arrived on Themyscira. She reveals herself, taunting the Amazons for being easily manipulated due to their pride and affection for Elizabeth.

Strife is Attacking at the Perfect Time. Can the Amazons Survive?

The goddess Eris, also known as Strife, has occasionally appeared in Wonder Woman’s stories, but became more prominent during the New 52 series. As her name suggests, she enjoys causing trouble for Wonder Woman and the Amazons, using her powers to create chaos whenever she can. She’s repeatedly manipulated the Amazons, even tricking them into fighting amongst themselves by making them believe someone had infiltrated their ranks. While she played a significant role in Wonder Woman’s story during the New 52 run, Eris has made fewer appearances since then.

Now is the ideal moment for Wonder Woman to come back. She’s pushed to her breaking point after everything the Sovereign has done, and she’s also a new mother. With Wonder Woman needing time to recover and the Amazons busy caring for her baby, Elizabeth, the villain Strife has the perfect chance to cause trouble. Strife thrives on discord and enjoys creating chaos, and she’s poised to pit everyone against each other.

Things are looking grim, particularly because Diana doesn’t know the villain has arrived on Themyscira. However, the Amazons have overcome challenges like this before. Staying united is crucial now – any division will give their enemy, Eris, an opening. If the Amazons can remain strong and protect Elizabeth, they have a good chance of getting through this. But this villain, Strife, gains power from disorder, and her return suggests she’s a serious danger. Let’s hope Wonder Woman and the Amazons can defeat her and restore peace to their home.
