It’s time for Team USA to take the pitch.
When the U.S. team begins its 2026 World Cup journey against Paraguay in Los Angeles on June 12th, players new to the squad like Haji Wright, Malik Tillman, and Mark McKenzie will have experienced teammates to help guide them.
Christian Pulisic, a veteran of the US team since 2016, is heading to his second World Cup. As the player with the most goals on the current roster – almost three times more than anyone else – he’s expected to be a key leader for the team.
His success is giving him a lot of confidence this year. He recently told Time magazine, “I’m determined to score goals.”
Midfielder Tyler Adams is also back for his second World Cup, this time played across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
He shared his excitement on Instagram on May 26th after learning he’d made the team, writing, “These moments never get old!” He also expressed gratitude for the chance and said he was ready to start working hard.
The US Men’s National Team features several players new to the World Cup, including forwards Ricardo Pepi, midfielder Sebastian Berhalter, and defender Max Arfsten. However, much of the attention is focused on Tim Ream, a 38-year-old defender who is competing in his second World Cup.
He jokingly told Goal.com that turning 30 seems to be considered the end of a player’s career, and that his age is always a topic of discussion.
Though he understands fans’ worries, Tim Ream – a veteran of Team USA since 2010 – stated he’s prepared for the demands of international competition.
He wasn’t sure if he should still be doing this at his age, saying it was something people might question. However, he emphasized that he’s continuing to work hard and pursue his ambitions, hoping to succeed.
