World of Warcraft: Midnight reveals a date for its upcoming Alpha Test — with a deep-dive gameplay presentation the day before

Blizzard Entertainment revealed that the next World of Warcraft expansion, World of Warcraft: Midnight, will enter Alpha testing on October 2, 2025, giving players an early look at the game. The announcement was made on September 22, 2025.

Before the game launches, Blizzard will give a detailed look at World of Warcraft: Midnight on October 1, 2025. This presentation will cover everything from the game’s story and world to its gameplay systems and features.

Here’s what you need to know about these events and how to tune into them.

Let’s start with the World of Warcraft: Midnight presentation, which kicks off on October 1, 2025, at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. Chris Metzen, Creative Director, and Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director, will host the presentation. You can watch it live on the official World of Warcraft Twitch and YouTube channels.

This will cover everything about the expansion, including the new areas to explore, the main storyline, challenging dungeons, player housing options, updated gameplay features, and much more.

After the presentation, fans will have a chance to ask questions. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas, Associate Game Director Paul Kubit, Design Director Maria Hamilton, and Community Manager Randy Jordan will be available to answer questions that were submitted by fans about the game.

You can ask the developers questions on the official World of Warcraft forums and subreddit.

I’m excited to share that we’re starting the Alpha test for World of Warcraft: Midnight on October 2, 2025. We’ll be kicking things off then and getting the first look at the game in action.

This test lets players try out some of the new features coming in the expansion and share their thoughts. Their feedback will help us polish the game before it launches in 2026.

As a huge fan of the game, I’m really excited about all the new stuff coming! They’re adding a new ‘Devourer’ specialization for Demon Hunters, which sounds awesome. But that’s not all – we’re finally getting player housing! Plus, there’s a ton of new story content, dungeons to explore, and these cool new ‘Delves’ where you team up with Valeera Sanguinar. And of course, new zones to discover and a ‘Prey’ system to keep things interesting. It’s a massive update, and I can’t wait to dive in!

Players won’t have immediate access to all of the new content. It will be released gradually in stages during the Alpha Test.

Blizzard Entertainment will be inviting players, along with their friends and family, to participate. They’ll also be extending invitations to long-time community members, those who run fan sites, members of the press, and content creators.

Be careful of phishing emails. If you want to make sure your invitation is real, log in to your Battle.net account and check if a Midnight Alpha license is linked to it. You can find this information under ‘Your Game Accounts’.

Be sure to check your emails for invites to World of Warcraft: Midnight’s Alpha Test

It’s a little frustrating that players accepted into the Alpha Test will have to wait to access most of World of Warcraft: Midnight’s content. However, they will get to try out the key features first, including Player Housing and the Devourer specialization.

The first part of the update will feature extensive adjustments to how each character plays, potentially changing their strategies completely. On top of that, new Apex Talents will be added with the expansion, further impacting gameplay.

I’m really excited about the upcoming Alpha Test and hoping to be invited. I want to try out the new Devourer specialization and the Prey system, which sounds like a bounty hunter mechanic. I’m also very curious to learn more about the ‘Sparks’ Profession that’s being added in Phase 5.

If I don’t get an invite, I’m content with waiting for the full expansion to launch on PC in 2026.

I’m really excited to jump into the new Legion Remix event in World of Warcraft, starting October 7, 2025, and earn all the cool, demon-themed prizes!
