Becky Lynch, the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, will appear in season two of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Performing under her real name, Rebecca Quin, she plays Lieutenant McKenzie Ya, the tactical officer aboard the USS Athena.
Lieutenant Ya has appeared in two episodes of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, beginning with the very first one. In that episode, the villain, Nus Braka (played by Paul Giamatti), even flirted with her after projecting a hologram of himself onto the bridge of the USS Athena. Lt. Ya later returned in episode 4, working at tactical during a training exercise where Starfleet simulated a war with the Klingon Empire.
Becky Lynch recently posted a behind-the-scenes vlog on Instagram Reels from the set of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2, which is almost finished filming. Staying in character as her confident and outspoken wrestling self, Lynch promoted Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, her bestselling autobiography Not Your Average Average Girl, and a new WWE championship watch she’s getting with AJ Lee. From February 10th to 12th, Becky Lynch was in Toronto filming season two of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and working on her video blog. She traveled to Toronto immediately after appearing on Monday Night RAW, where she first scheduled a match between AJ Lee and herself for the Intercontinental Championship at the February 28th WWE Elimination Chamber event. Following the announcement, Lynch attacked Lee, continuing their rivalry.
Becky Lynch won the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title on the January 12th episode of Monday Night RAW, defeating Maxxine Dupri at Madison Square Garden. Following the win, the official Star Trek Instagram account playfully referred to Lynch’s championship as the ‘Intergalactic Championship.’ She then proudly wore the title to the world premiere of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy in New York City the following night.
Becky Lynch’s video blog features Tricia Black, who jokingly acts as her lawyer. Black and Lynch both appear in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, where Black plays Lieutenant Rork, a liaison between the USS Athena and Starfleet Academy. It looks like the entire bridge crew from Captain Nahla Ake’s ship (played by Holly Hunter) comes together near the end of season two of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
Becky Lynch has cleverly incorporated promotion for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy into her WWE character, “Big Time Becks.” This has led to regular mentions of Star Trek on WWE programming, introducing it to a huge worldwide audience. Fans will be thrilled to see Becky Lynch take on more roles in season 2 of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
