Rebecca Quin, widely known as Becky Lynch to WWE fans, is now part of the Star Trek world. Her first official look as a character in the upcoming Paramount+ series, set in the 32nd century, has been revealed. The show focuses on Starfleet Academy.
First look at Becky Lynch revealed in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
Collider has shared a first look at actress Jo Van Fleet as her new Star Trek character. She plays a Starfleet officer on the bridge, part of the Operations team, and sports a stylish bob haircut with blue highlights. The photo doesn’t suggest her character is alien.
I’m so excited about this new Star Trek series! It’s set a few centuries in the future and focuses on a fresh group of cadets at Starfleet Academy. What really grabs me is Holly Hunter as Captain Ake – she’s also the Chancellor, which sounds amazing! It’s wonderful to see familiar faces like Sylvia Tilly, Jett Reno, Admiral Vance, and even the Doctor returning. And the new cast members – Stephen Colbert, Bella Shepard, Zoë Steiner, and so many others – they all seem like fantastic additions to the Star Trek universe. I can’t wait to see what adventures await!
Looking back on her childhood, Quin remembers Star Trek being a constant presence on Irish television, which only had a few channels at the time. While she wasn’t always a dedicated viewer, she enjoyed the movies and was a big fan of Colm Meaney, saying everyone would stop what they were doing to watch him. She also described being on set as part of the bridge crew as an incredible experience, noting the bridge itself was one of the most impressive sets she’d ever seen.
Colm Meaney played Miles O’Brien, the Chief Engineer on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and had also appeared on The Next Generation. A new trailer suggests there’s a lingering question about what happened to Captain Benjamin Sisko at the end of Deep Space Nine, linking the show to the wider Star Trek universe.
