In a fascinating development, the savage world of Predator now intersects with the X-Men’s domain within the Marvel Universe. This exciting merger is made possible by Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, granting Marvel Comics the license to blend their universe with properties like Predator and Alien. Previous encounters have seen Predators squaring off against Marvel heavyweights such as Wolverine, Black Panther, and Spider-Man. However, in the new series titled “Predator Kills the Marvel Universe,” we find the Yautja hunters venturing into a larger game reserve. The first issue is already available, and our beloved Marvel characters are facing grim odds. The next phase of the Predator onslaught shifts the battlefield to the X-Mansion.
Exclusive sneak peek: “Predator Kills the Marvel Universe” #2, penned by Benjamin Percy and illustrated by Marcelo Ferreira. Following their encounters with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Fantastic Four in outer space, the Yautja shift their focus to a ground assault on Earth. They are aware that they must eliminate teams like the X-Men and Avengers to guarantee victory. The Predators elect to target the X-Men initially, as their attack coincides with a Danger Room exercise.
Predator Looks to Wipe Out the X-Men at the X-Mansion
Professor Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men, and Magneto are peacefully playing chess when suddenly, a powerful psychic alert strikes Xavier. This message leaves him reeling so intensely that he collapses from his wheelchair. In his mind’s eye, he witnesses distressing scenes involving the Fantastic Four, suggesting they’re in grave danger. The scene then shifts to the X-Mansion courtyard where a violent attack by the Yautja, or Predators, is underway. These extraterrestrial hunters have arrived in the dead of night amidst pouring rain, descending from their spaceships.
Within X-Mansion’s walls, I find myself amidst an intense Danger Room battle alongside Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Beast, and Storm. However, the fight isn’t just against the menacing Sentinels; a stealthy intruder, akin to the predator from the cinematic universe, has somehow bypassed our training program. Caught off guard, Cyclops spots this elusive foe trying to surprise him as the climactic scene of Predator Hunts the Marvel Universe, issue 2, concludes.
For several years now, Percy has shared that writing the Predator Vs. series has been a fantastic journey for him. The Yautja have engaged in thrilling encounters with characters such as Wolverine, Black Panther, and Spider-Man, to name a few. They’ve pursued vibranium in Wakanda, faced off against Kraven during a scorching heatwave in New York, all amidst a carefully crafted plot. The full extent of these interconnected stories will be unveiled in an action-packed, gory, five-part tale.
He went on to clarify, ‘The title isn’t deceiving; it’s going to be intense. Popular characters, both heroes and villains, will meet their end as new ones emerge in response to this planet-threatening catastrophe. The Predator King has arrived, the Yautja are equipped with vibranium, and Earth is transformed into a hunting ground.’
