In the realm of Adult Swim, comedy reigns supreme for numerous viewers, and shows like “Rick and Morty” continue to attract significant audiences even years after their premiere. However, this doesn’t suggest that Adult Swim shies away from tackling serious themes. Alongside popular anime series such as “Dragon Ball,” “Naruto,” and “Attack on Titan,” Adult Swim has also produced its own original, violent content. This October, the platform is planning to delve back into the world of “Primal” as they are set to reveal important updates about season three.
The upcoming panel at New York Comic Con centered around the third season of “Primal,” created by Genndy Tartakovsky, will occur on October 9th. According to the convention’s description, this event features Genndy Tartakovsky (known for shows like “Dexter’s Laboratory,” “Samurai Jack,” “Sym-Bionic Titan,” and “Unicorn: Warriors Eternal”) who will provide a sneak peek into the third season of the critically-acclaimed animated series produced by Cartoon Network Studios. With numerous animation-focused panels at New York Comic Con, this could be an event worth attending.
What Will Primal’s Third Season Be?
If you’re catching up on Genndy Tartakovsky’s work and wondering what to expect from the next installment of Primal, it’s worth noting that things are set to take a new direction compared to the first two seasons. The initial story arc centered around Spear and Fang, but the season 2 finale saw Spear sacrificing his life in battle against a supernatural force. As a result, his unborn daughter is now set to carry on the story, while Fang moves forward with her own offspring. Important to note here, Tartakovsky has hinted that the third season won’t solely revolve around this prehistoric world.
In contrast, the third season of “Primal” is planned to follow an “anthology style” in its narrative, a format that isn’t foreign to the animated series. Previously, one episode from the second season, titled “Primal Theory,” offered a Victorian setting where several aristocrats faced a dangerous onslaught from an escaped lunatic asylum patient. This new approach is expected to continue with a more brutal environment for each story, allowing Tartakovsky more creative freedom.
If you’re eagerly anticipating Genndy Tartakovsky’s return to animation for the 2026 comeback of “Primal,” here’s some exciting news! Netflix has already released his latest film, titled “Fixed,” on its streaming platform. Although it might not delve into prehistoric violence like “Primal,” it undeniably earned its mature rating. With Tartakovsky expressing interest in creating more adult-oriented animation, it’s possible that “Primal” and “Fixed” are just the beginning of a larger trend.
