Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is beginning to open up about his MCU X-Men movie.
According to reports, Schreier is among the potential directors for Marvel Studio’s upcoming X-Men film. More recently, Kevin Feige confirmed that Schreier has been involved in this project, which isn’t slated for release until after the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars films.
What did Jake Schreier say about the MCU X-Men movie?
During an interview with The Playlist, Schreier was inquired about whether the upcoming X-Men film would present noticeable differences compared to its predecessors.
He agreed, stating it’s reasonable to assume so. “Somewhere out there is a distinct red marker, if you will… But to delve into all the concepts embedded within such a wealth of content, yet at a level commensurate with the source material, that’s almost unheard of and quite fortunate. It’s truly exhilarating.
He added, “While I won’t delve deeply into specifics, let me tell you that X-Men offers fascinating and intricate content. At its heart, X-Men presents a profound concept filled with engaging characters and intense internal struggles. These characters grapple with their identities and role in the world, which makes for captivating and complex subject matter.
Earlier, Feige mentioned through Variety that Schreier is planning for a “youth-oriented revamp.” He added, “This could potentially show up in the selection of young actors playing mutants, and it will undoubtedly impact the movie’s atmosphere and viewpoint.
At present, we don’t have any details about the storyline for the upcoming X-Men movie. Additionally, it remains uncertain which mutant characters will appear in the film, as no official announcements regarding casting have been shared yet.
Marvel hasn’t announced a release date for X-Men as of now, but Thunderbolts is now up for rental or purchase on various digital streaming services.
*Thunderbolts refers to the upcoming Marvel Comics film adaptation of the superhero team by the same name.
