For fans of Xbox, there are approximately 48 hours remaining to claim a free exclusive game from Xbox. This game was released during the summer of 2020, marking its end-of-generation status for Xbox One as the newer Xbox Series S and X debuted on November 10 later that year. Although it was nearly simultaneous with the release of current-gen Xbox consoles, this game has never had an Xbox Series X|S version; however, it can still be played on the Xbox Series consoles through backward compatibility.
The game exclusively available on Xbox is called “Tell Me Why,” developed by Dontnod Entertainment, a French studio established in 2008 and recognized primarily for their Life Is Strange series. Interestingly, Tell Me Why was published by Xbox Game Studios, making it a second-party release. Unlike many Xbox games throughout the years that have been released on other platforms, especially recently, Tell Me Why has not appeared on any other console platforms. Instead, it’s only accessible on PC, a platform it debuted on at its launch.
As a dedicated admirer, I must express my disappointment that Dontnod Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios’ Tell Me Why didn’t quite reach its full potential. Metacritic scores indicate it’s in the 70s, which, while not terrible, suggests room for improvement. Regarding sales figures, they remain undisclosed, but it appears the game may have struggled to find its audience.
To sum it up, until July 1st, you can get the Xbox game (usually priced at $20) free of charge from the Microsoft Store. This game is an episodic adventure that typically takes between 9 to 15 hours to complete, depending on factors like your playstyle and how thoroughly you want to explore.
The official description for Tell Me Why, the latest game from Dontnod Entertainment (known for Life is Strange), goes like this: This narrative adventure game delves into the mystery of twins Tyler and Alyson Ronan as they use their supernatural connection to uncover the secrets of their childhood. The game takes place in a picturesque Alaskan town, with characters that feel real and themes that are mature. Your decisions will influence the twins’ relationship, the strength of their bond, and ultimately, the direction their lives take.
