Xbox Game Pass Has 3 New Day One Games (Including the Biggest Game of 2025)

Xbox Game Pass is adding three new games on the day of their release, including what’s expected to be the biggest game launch of 2025. These day-one releases are only available with the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which costs $30 per month. While one of these games might make the subscription worthwhile, the other two likely won’t, and may not convince frustrated Xbox fans to continue subscribing.

Like all games on Xbox Game Pass, it’s unclear how long these three new titles will be available. Typically, games stay on the service for six months, a year, or two. However, one of these games is published by Activision, which is now part of Xbox, so it’s possible it could be added permanently.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Console and PC)

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn’t require much explanation. As the latest installment in the popular Call of Duty franchise, and another Black Ops title from Treyarch, it generally receives positive reviews – earning an 84 on Metacritic. However, many players find the single-player campaign to be a weak point.

Winter Burrow (Console and PC)

Winter Burrow is a new game that combines the popular ‘cozy’ style with challenges you’d find in a survival game. While critics gave it scores between 67 and 78, players seem to enjoy it more. It has an 80% positive rating on Steam and a 4 out of 5 star rating on the Microsoft Store.

You play as a mouse who comes home to find everything in disrepair and your aunt gone. Your goal is to find your aunt, rebuild your house, and get to know the other animals in town. Just be careful – there are dangerous creatures lurking around!

Pigeon Simulator (Console and PC)

Among the recently released games, Pigeon Simulator is receiving particularly negative feedback. It doesn’t have a score from professional reviewers, but users on the Microsoft Store – the only place to buy the game, which is exclusive to the Xbox Series X – have given it a disappointing 2 out of 5 stars.

tinyBuild’s new game isn’t another silly simulator like Goat Simulator. It’s surprisingly challenging, more akin to the Dark Souls series. You play as a special pigeon – a member of the Paranormal Examination & Kontainment unit tasked with defending New Squawk City.
