Xbox Game Pass has a lot of popular games, including some that launch on the service the same day as their release and even exclusive titles. One of these games is now coming to PlayStation 5, a year after it first became available on PC and Xbox. While it’s great that more people will get to play it, there’s a downside for Xbox fans. The game will remain available for purchase, but it’s being removed from the Game Pass library, meaning subscribers will no longer have access to it as part of their subscription.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited to finally announce that Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is coming to PlayStation 5 on November 20th! It was originally released for Xbox and PC last year, on November 20th, 2024, and I’ve been waiting for it on PS5 ever since. Even better, the PS5 release is happening alongside the big 1.7 update, which should fix a lot of the issues people have been talking about. It’s a bit of a bummer though – the game is leaving Xbox Game Pass on November 15th, so those of us who were playing it through the service will need to buy it separately to keep playing when the update drops.
Fans Angry Stalker 2: Chornobyl Leaves Game Pass
The decision to remove the game from Game Pass has upset many fans, especially since a major update addressing performance issues has just been released. Some players feel it’s unfair, suggesting the game was essentially in early access on Game Pass while the developers fixed problems. The timing, coinciding with the game’s release on PlayStation 5, has only added to the frustration. Stalker 2 launched last year to a mixed reception and with several performance issues, but update 1.7 is designed to fix those problems.
With the game leaving the subscription service soon, some players are trying to finish it quickly, and others are canceling their Game Pass subscriptions. This reaction stems from increasing dissatisfaction with Xbox, particularly after recent price hikes for both consoles and the Game Pass service.
As a Game Pass subscriber, I’m used to games coming and going each month – that’s just how the service works. But the whole situation with Stalker 2 leaving felt different. It wasn’t just that it was leaving, but how it happened that really got fans upset. It’s a good reminder that Game Pass isn’t a permanent library; access to games is temporary, and things can change quickly with new releases or big updates. Basically, what’s available today might not be there tomorrow, and that can be frustrating!
