According to GSC Game World, the creators of STALKER, they plan to make numerous enhancements to STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl by the end of this year.
It seems very probable that these improvements will be released concurrently with the anticipated PS5 version, which was initially announced towards the start of July. Additionally, the port aims to launch sometime during the remainder of this year.
The most significant enhancement among these is an upgrade to the game’s engine, transitioning it to Unreal Engine 5.5.4. As stated by the studio on Steam, this update aims to improve the game, introducing new features and tools that will further enhance ‘The Zone’. Furthermore, embracing the latest optimizations of Unreal Engine 5 is expected to boost the game’s stability and performance.
At the time of its release in November last year, STALKER 2 encountered some optimization issues on both PC and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Fortunately, many of these performance issues have been addressed since then. It’s always reassuring to learn about enhancements aimed at improving stability within the game engine.
Other planned additions and enhancements include…
- New exploration-based equipment
- Loads of gameplay balance tweaks
- New open world events
- New missions
- New type of weather
- New ‘master’ difficulty
- Extended day and night cycles
- Loot rework
- Stamina and energy rework
- ‘Immersive’ display mode
- UI updates
It’s important to mention that while GSC Game World aims for everything to be prepared by 2025, they haven’t definitively guaranteed this. They acknowledge that plans may need to adapt over time. However, assuming all goes well, that remains their goal. Here’s hoping the team experiences a smooth journey ahead.
