Xbox President Says Company is “100% Looking at Making Things in the Future”

There’s been a lot of discussion about what’s next for Xbox at Microsoft, particularly after recent price changes aimed at increasing profits. However, Xbox president Sarah Bond has made it clear that Microsoft remains committed to creating new games and hardware. In a recent Variety interview, Bond discussed the future of Xbox, including plans for next-generation consoles and continued development of new content.

Bond stated that the company is definitely planning for future hardware releases. They’re currently developing next-generation hardware and have been working on prototypes and design. A partnership with AMD has already been announced to support this effort. They saw a chance to offer gamers more options alongside their new hardware, and are committed to responding to the desires of players and creators by building innovative products when there’s a clear demand.

During an interview focusing on the new Asus ROG Ally and Ally X handheld gaming devices, Microsoft’s Jason Bond revealed that the company plans to enhance both systems with future software updates. Because the devices use Windows 11, Microsoft can easily add new features and improvements. These updates will include refining the handheld gaming experience and expanding the Xbox Handheld Compatibility program.

Recently, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer and Carl Ledbetter gave Good Morning America a tour of Building 87, where the next Xbox is being developed. Bond explained that this section of the building is where the team creates, builds prototypes, and tests the next Xbox. He emphasized its secrecy, saying they ‘very, very rarely’ give anyone access.

Everyone in the gaming industry knows Microsoft is working on a new Xbox, even though it hasn’t been officially announced yet. Recent reports suggest it could launch around 2027. The new console is expected to use a powerful AMD processor, known internally as Magnus, that will be significantly more powerful than the chips in today’s Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
