Xbox Series X and S Upgraded With 4 New Features

Microsoft recently released an update for the Xbox Series X and S that includes four new features. These features are currently being tested by a small group of users in the Alpha and Alpha-Skip-Ahead rings. If the testing goes well, Microsoft plans to release the features to all Xbox Series X and S owners before the end of the year, though a specific date hasn’t been announced.

This update focuses on adding more features rather than significantly improving existing ones. While none of the new additions are major, the fact that there are four of them makes the update worthwhile.

Four New Features for Xbox Users

One of the four new features is a helpful update that would have been useful during past Xbox Live outages. Now, when there’s a problem with Xbox services, you’ll see a notification in the top-right corner of your screen, letting you know what’s happening instead of leaving you wondering. Clicking on the notification will take you to a page with the latest information about the issue.

Microsoft is giving Xbox Series X and S owners more ways to personalize their console’s colors. You can now pick an exact color using a hex code, or use a new feature that automatically chooses a color from your gamerpic.

Xbox Series X and S users will now see their connected controller displayed in the Xbox Accessories app. This simple addition helps you quickly verify which controller is currently selected.

Now, it’s simpler to stay informed about Xbox console updates. You can quickly find the latest release notes right from the top of the Home screen, and those notes will include more details than before.

While it’s unlikely, some of these features might not be included in the final version. However, this is unusual, and none of them should cause any technical issues on our end – that’s the only reason they wouldn’t be released.
