Xbox Series X and S owners received a significant update this week. Microsoft hadn’t made major changes to its Xbox consoles so far in 2026. Previous updates in February and March focused on improving stability and fixing minor bugs. But now, with April underway, a larger update has been released, bringing noticeable improvements to the Xbox Series X and S user interface.
This week, Microsoft released five updates for Xbox consoles. Most of the changes focus on the Xbox Series X and S dashboard. Players can now personalize their profile with custom colors through the settings menu. Additionally, a new “Play History” tab has been added, and users can now pin up to ten groups to their Home screen, an increase from the previous limit of two.

One of the biggest updates is the new ability to control the Quick Resume feature on Xbox Series X and S. Players can now turn off Quick Resume for individual games, ensuring they always start fresh and improving overall gameplay. Quick Resume has been a popular feature since the consoles launched in 2020, and many fans requested this added control.
Xbox has added a new feature called “Network Quality Indicator” to help players understand and improve their streaming quality. You can find it in the settings under Cloud Gaming, where it lets you adjust how games perform when streamed. While it’s a small change, it’s a useful addition as Xbox continues to invest in cloud gaming.
This is a major update for Xbox Series X and S – one of the biggest we’ve seen in years. Microsoft should definitely keep making these helpful improvements, particularly with the new Project Helix console expected around 2027. Updates like these could be key to building excitement for the next generation of Xbox.
