Xbox Series X Getting Feature Fans Have Wanted Since Launch

Xbox Series X is finally getting a much-requested feature that fans have been waiting for since the console launched in 2020. One of the Xbox Series X’s biggest strengths is Quick Resume, which allows players to instantly switch between multiple games without any loading screens or restarts, picking up exactly where they left off. While this feature is incredibly useful, it hasn’t always been flawless, sometimes causing issues with certain games. However, those problems are about to be resolved.

Microsoft is testing a new update with Xbox Insiders before releasing it to all Xbox Series X owners sometime in the future. Updates usually arrive for everyone a few months after being tested with Insiders. This new update lets Xbox Series X users turn Quick Resume on or off for individual games. This is especially helpful for online games, where Quick Resume often doesn’t work and can even force a game to restart, which is frustrating. The goal is to allow players to quickly return to their games, and this change gives them more control over the feature.

Xbox Series X Fans Are Happy

An Xbox Series X user expressed excitement on social media platform X about the ability to customize Quick Resume settings for each game. Another user shared that this feature was much needed, as they frequently had to restart Battlefield 6 because of issues with Quick Resume.

A third Xbox Series X user further adds: “Finally, the quick resume update we’ve been begging for.”

It’s not ideal to have to disable a great console feature for specific games instead of finding a solution that lets us use it. Plus, this setting will likely be buried in the menus, so many Xbox Series X owners might not even find it. Still, having this option at all is a step in the right direction.

To try out this new feature, find a game in the Quick Resume group and open the “More” options. Then, choose “Manage Quick Resume” to turn it on.
