As a huge fan, I was thrilled when Yakuza 0 came to the Nintendo Switch last year, and it really reminded me why it’s one of the best in the series. Now, it’s amazing that Xbox Series X/S and PS5 players get to experience it next month, along with Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2! And it’s good to see that even if you already own those games on older consoles, you’re not left out – though you will have to pay to upgrade.
If you already own Yakuza 0 on PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One, you can upgrade to the latest version for $14.99 until December 8th at 8:29 AM Pacific Time / 11:59 AM Eastern Time. Yakuza Kiwami upgrades are available for just $1.99 during the same period, while Yakuza Kiwami 2 is getting a free upgrade!
So, unfortunately, you can’t transfer your save files to these updated versions, and this deal is only for digital copies – no physical games or games played through a subscription service. With Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, you’re getting some extra story bits and a new mode called “Red Light Raid.” Yakuza Kiwami is cool because it adds language support and includes songs like “Receive You [Reborn]” and “Bleed” that never made it overseas before. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is getting a language update too, but that’s about it.
I’ve been really enjoying Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, and you can find my thoughts on the Switch 2 version in my review. I’m also super excited for the next installment, Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties, which is coming out on February 11th, 2026! It’ll be available on Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch, so there are plenty of ways to play!
