Do you remember the rumors about Destiny 3, supposedly called Payback? Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier later said those rumors weren’t true. However, a source named Colony Deaks claims the game is actually in the very beginning stages of development.
The source, who previously revealed details about the price and weapons in Marathon, says they’ve had this information for several weeks. They emphasized that the project is still in its early stages, but plan to share more details in the coming months as development progresses.
The possibility of Destiny 3 has been a long-running discussion among players. Some believe a completely new game is needed, particularly because Destiny 2’s storyline became confusing after certain older story missions were removed. However, others think Destiny 2 is perfectly capable of supporting whatever new content Bungie creates.
Even though player numbers for Destiny 2 are at an all-time low, a fresh start might help attract new players. However, since development is still in its early stages, Bungie might ultimately decide not to move forward with the project. Only time will reveal what happens next.
In the meantime, Destiny 2: Renegades, a Star Wars-themed expansion, launches on December 4th.
That’s right, we’re starting to develop Destiny 3, and a tweet hinted at it earlier today. We’ve known about this for a few weeks, but wanted to hold off on sharing because it’s very early in the process, and we didn’t want to get anyone excited about something that’s still a long way off.
