Following several months filled with hints and excitement, Playtonic has finally confirmed that the remastered version of Yooka-Laylee, titled Yooka-Replaylee, will debut on October 9th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. You can watch the launch date trailer below.
The digital version of the game will sell for $29.99, while its physical counterpart will cost $49.99 on gaming consoles (and comes with the entire game preloaded on the Switch 2’s cartridge). It’s worth noting that players who already own the 2017 platformer can get a 30% discount on the remastered version. However, this discount applies only if they own the original game on the same platform or console family.
According to Playstationic studio director Gavin Price, “Yooka-Replaylee” was designed to excel on every available platform, and he’s thrilled that it will be accessible on the Switch 2 from its launch day. The game holds a significant place in their hearts (and hands). It’s larger, more vibrant, bolder, and filled with the intricate details they’ve long envisioned. They can hardly wait for players to dive into the game.
In essence, Yooka-Replaylee follows the original storyline but adds fresh plot twists and scenes, boasts enhanced visuals, offers new Tonic options, a revamped map layout, and additional content. Rextro’s Arcade has undergone a total revamp, introducing new platforming stages. Furthermore, this remaster features upgraded camera and control mechanics, as all moves are accessible from the start. Keep an eye out for further updates regarding gameplay demonstrations leading up to its release.
