It appears common sense might suggest it, but occasionally, series such as Square Enix’s Final Fantasy require explicit mention. Originally exclusive to PS4, the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy has been under development for over a decade and remarkably remains on schedule, yet the gaps between releases are still substantial.
This past year brought the debut of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which underwent a significant enhancement on the PS5 Pro console. Recently, an even more visually stunning version was made available on PC. During an interview with 4Gamer (thanks to VGC), producer Yoshinori Kitase addressed questions about whether current-gen gamers would require an upgrade:
Regarding those who’ve played Final Fantasy VII Remake on PS4 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on PS5, there might be some worry that the third installment will only be available on the next-generation console. However, Kitase jokingly seemed to allay these fears: “No, you can confidently expect the next one on your current or future consoles.
