Yukes plans to purchase game developer AQUAPLUS, known for creating Utawarerumono and ToHeart series, from Pole To Win Holdings for approximately 783.52 million yen. This deal also includes AQUAPLUS’s subsidiary, FIXRECORDS. The transaction is expected to be completed by September, according to the company’s announcement.
As a devoted follower, I’m sharing the news that my favorite company, Pole To Win Holdings, has decided to part ways with AQUAPLUS, signaling their exit from the media content industry.
Yuke’s stated that this acquisition will offer them a chance to unite their console game development skills with AQUAPLUS’ intellectual property and brand strategy expertise. This union aims to create games in fresh genres and unique styles. By incorporating some of AQUAPLUS’ development projects into their own group, Yuke’s also anticipates improved resource allocation and streamlined operations within their contract development sector.
The company stated that by using AQUAPLUS’ knowledge in creating bishojo adventure games, they aim to broaden their game development categories, tap into new markets, and employ cross-selling tactics. Additionally, Yuke’s intends to speed up the worldwide growth of AQUAPLUS’ intellectual property by utilizing their expertise in localization, multi-platform compatibility, and collaborating with overseas publishers – skills they have honed from developing numerous titles that have been released globally.
