Zelda: Twilight Princess is Officially Playable on Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch has a fantastic library of games, featuring both original hits like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, as well as beloved classics such as Ocarina of Time and Skyward Sword HD. Despite getting an updated version on the Wii U, Twilight Princess hasn’t yet made its way to the incredibly popular Nintendo Switch.

Players can now enjoy The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on both the Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. While Nintendo hasn’t officially released the game on these systems, fans have created ways to make it playable.

Zelda Fans Can Finally Play Twilight Princess on Switch

On April 20th, Nintendo announced that players can now enjoy GameCube and Wii games on their Nintendo Switch through emulation. This includes both versions of Twilight Princess, and notably, it’s the first time this has been possible without needing to use Android or Linux.

danticoverse has had success with a new version of Tico Alpha, version 0.7.0. They shared an image showing several GameCube games downloaded onto their Nintendo Switch, including Super Smash Bros. Melee, Starfox Adventures, Sonic Riders, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

“Twilight Princess on the Switch,” one user simply replied, clearly overjoyed by this development.

“Running well,” @danticoverse responded simply.

Many people commented that they’re looking forward to playing even more games on the Nintendo Switch now.

A user inquired if Wind Waker was being played, and @danticoverse replied with a video showing gameplay.

One user expressed their excitement, saying it felt like a dream come true to finally have a Switch that could do everything they wanted from a Nintendo console. They shared their joy with a string of emojis.

Playing classic games on today’s consoles, especially Nintendo systems, is a significant achievement that gamers will likely appreciate. While Nintendo Switch Online offers a selection of retro titles, many beloved games are still unavailable. Plus, the subscription cost puts it out of reach for some, and there have been other issues with the service as well.

You can play Twilight Princess and other GameCube and Wii games on your Switch using software from @danticoverse. Their page has everything you need, including instructions on how to set it up.

You can now play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on Nintendo GameCube, and an updated version, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, is available for Nintendo Wii U.
