007 First Light Has Sold 1.5 Million Copies in Its First 24 Hours

IO Interactive’s new James Bond game, 007 First Light, released globally on May 27th and has already proven popular, selling 1.5 million copies in its first day.

The new action-adventure game reached a peak of 68,477 players on Steam, which is significantly lower than the 361,001 concurrent players that Hitman 2 had back in December 2018, shortly after its release. While the game’s demanding system requirements might be a factor, it’s also possible players are waiting to see what others think of it before jumping in.

Even though it’s based on a well-known character, this is essentially a new franchise, and it’s telling an origin story instead of continuing an existing movie. Plus, while its performance on Steam might not look amazing, it probably did better on gaming consoles.

Despite everything, 007 First Light is already considered one of the best games of 2026, thanks to overwhelmingly positive reviews. We gave it a 9/10 in our review, but that’s just the start! IO Interactive plans to add even more content to the game after launch, and they’re known for consistently supporting their titles. You can find more information here.

Over 1.5 million copies sold! We’re thrilled by the incredible support for the launch of 007 First Light and love hearing about your experiences with the game. Dive into this fresh take on James Bond’s origin story and #EarnTheNumber today! Available now: bit.ly/007FirstLigh… #007FirstLight
