IO Interactive has released the story trailer and new screenshots for 007 First Light.
In the new game, 007 First Light, we’re showing players how James Bond became the iconic agent they know. According to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak, the game focuses on the key events that shaped him early in his career – before he became a legend. Players will experience Bond as a rookie spy, still learning the ropes, but already displaying the intelligence, determination, and natural talent that will ultimately define him. Even at this early stage, you’ll recognize the core qualities that make him James Bond.
Here are the latest details:
Today’s PlayStation State of Play unveiled a new story trailer for the upcoming Bond game, hinting at a worldwide conspiracy. The trailer shows how Bond joins MI6 and begins his career as a spy, navigating a dangerous world of secrets and hidden enemies. We get a first look at Bond’s missions in Iceland, highlighting his quick thinking, courage, and adaptability – qualities that get him noticed by MI6 and lead to his enrollment in the revamped 00 program. Played by Patrick Gibson, this young and sometimes impulsive Bond will have to learn to balance his natural instincts with the strict rules and expectations of his new life as a secret agent, where taking initiative isn’t always appreciated and following orders is key.
When Bond joins the world of spying, he finds an ally in M (played by Priyanga Burford), who sees his talent for handling difficult situations and getting results, even when he trusts his own instincts. However, John Greenway (played by Lennie James), a former 00 agent and their trainer, represents a different approach. Greenway, who always follows the rules, quickly finds himself at odds with Bond’s tendency to improvise and rely on his gut feelings.
Although they have a complicated relationship, Bond and Greenway must team up when a former British agent, now known as 009 and operating outside the law, emerges as the first major threat to the newly relaunched 00 program. The chase takes Bond around the world, from the remote Carpathian Mountains to the shadowy black market of Aleph, where he encounters the enigmatic Bawma (played by Lenny Kravitz) and others. Along the way, Bond will need to figure out who he can trust, especially when dealing with mysterious figures like Charlotte Roth (played by Noemie Nakai), and determine where their allegiances truly lie.
The game 007 First Light will be released on May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
