10 Best Anime to Binge on Crunchyroll in May 2026

The first month of the Spring 2026 anime season has concluded, delivering a promising start with a collection of highly anticipated shows. Popular series like Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 3 and Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World Season 4 made their return. While fans are enjoying the new season, waiting each week for the next episode can be tough. Each episode is just over 20 minutes long, and they often end with cliffhangers that leave viewers eager to find out what happens next.

That’s why it’s often more fun to start watching a series that already has several episodes available, particularly on Crunchyroll, the biggest anime streaming service. They always have a huge selection of exciting anime to choose from. If you’re looking for something new to watch, this list should keep you entertained all month long.

10) Fire Force

The anime series finished in April 2026, seven years after it first aired. As the story wraps up, it reveals the secrets of its unique world and brings the fight against Evangelist to a close. Many fans consider it a top-tier Shonen anime, especially praising its detailed world and satisfying ending, making now a great time to watch the whole series.

9) Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

The highly anticipated Season 3 of the anime will arrive in 2027, featuring what many fans consider its strongest story arc. Frieren and her companions will travel north and face even greater dangers as they get closer to Aureole, and will encounter one of the powerful Seven Sages of Destruction. Now that Season 2 has finished airing, it’s a great time to catch up with both seasons and continue following Frieren’s adventure.

8) Journal the Witch

Despite being one of the best anime of the year, Journal of the Witch hasn’t gotten much attention, and a second season hasn’t been announced yet. The story centers on a touching relationship between an aunt and niece and their journeys of self-discovery. Don’t let the title fool you – this isn’t a typical fantasy with magic; the ‘witch’ represents how the characters feel different from everyone else.

7) You and I Are Polar Opposites

You can never have too many romantic comedies, and this one, appearing in Shonen Jump, is a sweet addition. It centers on Yuusuke Tani and Miyu Suzuki, a popular girl who sits next to him in class. Their conversations start as short, casual exchanges – Miyu asks random questions and Yuusuke usually responds with polite disinterest. But little do they know, these little moments are slowly blossoming into something more.

6) Sentenced to Be a Hero

The Winter 2026 anime season delivered a standout hit that quickly gained a dedicated fanbase thanks to its beautiful animation, original story, and compelling plot. The show follows Xylo Forbartz, a disgraced former leader of the Holy Knights, who suffers a terrible fate after being wrongly accused of murdering a goddess. With Season 2 already confirmed, now is a great time to start watching!

5) Saga of Tanya the Evil

Fans waited over six years, but the anime has now confirmed a second season will arrive in 2026, though a specific date hasn’t been revealed yet. This series, which blends fantasy and a World War I-like setting, features a reborn hero struggling to adapt to a new world. The first season had 12 episodes, and a follow-up movie was released in 2019.

4) The Apothecary Diaries

Fans have been waiting for Season 3 of the anime, and it’s finally coming in October! A movie will follow in December. Now’s the perfect time to watch or re-watch the series so you’re ready for Maomao and Jinshi’s next adventure – they’re headed to the northern farmlands, and things are about to get complicated.

3) Black Clover

Fans are eagerly awaiting a new season of the popular anime, Black Clover, expected to arrive this year. The original manga recently finished its 11-year run, and the new anime season will continue the story from the Spade Kingdom Arc. If you’re new to the series, or want a refresher, now is a great time to start watching!

2) Link Click

Despite not getting enough recognition, Link Click remains a truly exceptional supernatural mystery. The show will return with the first part of its third season in July. It’s a surprisingly emotional and action-packed story with a lot at stake, a fact you wouldn’t expect from its intriguing premise. The series centers around time travel, with the two main characters using photos to fulfill clients’ requests and journey into the past.

1) Apocalypse Hotel

I’m still hoping for a second season, though there’s no news yet, but honestly, you have to check this anime out! It’s easily one of the best sci-fi shows I’ve seen in ages. It’s set way in the future, 2157 to be exact, after everyone had to leave Earth because the air became poisonous. Most of humanity is gone, but this incredible luxury hotel called Gingarou Hotel is still running in Tokyo, kept going by a dedicated team of robots who are patiently waiting for people to return!
