12 Years Later, Star Wars Finally Introduces an Awesome Cut Bounty Hunter Ship

While The Mandalorian and Grogu didn’t quite live up to the high expectations of Disney, Lucasfilm, or many fans, it wasn’t a complete failure. Even critical reviews acknowledged the film was entertaining, offering a safe and enjoyable return to the Star Wars universe after a seven-year hiatus – as long as expectations were realistic.

The Mandalorian and Grogu gave fans plenty to enjoy too. The series reintroduced popular Star Wars characters in an exciting story, while also demonstrating that the franchise could move forward without relying heavily on Jedi, Sith, or Skywalker lore. Like many entries in the universe, it included Easter eggs and references to past material – even bringing back a ship originally cut from a project twelve years earlier.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Brought Back Embo’s Guillotine

While the Hutt Twins served as the main villains in the film, the bounty hunter Embo was arguably even more menacing. Viewers familiar with the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars – which premiered a few years after Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith – would have recognized him, though he might have been new to those who only watch the movies.

Embo, a character with a surprisingly rich history in Star Wars, recently returned in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and fans finally got to see his incredible ship, the Guillotine. Not only does it have a fantastic name, but the Guillotine’s distinctive design looked amazing on screen. Interestingly, this ship almost appeared over ten years ago, but the scene was ultimately cut.

This Ship Was Cut From The Clone Wars More Than A Decade Ago

Like the character Embo, his ship, the Guillotine, was first planned to appear in season 6 of The Clone Wars. Unfortunately, the ship was removed from that storyline, even though Embo still appeared in the season. This was likely because the writers needed to simplify the season’s plots, as Embo wasn’t a central character.

It’s encouraging to see Lucasfilm revisiting older ideas when creating new Star Wars content. While The Mandalorian and Grogu wasn’t flawless, dedicated fans will likely enjoy these subtle nods to the franchise’s long history.
