Summer gaming events are back, and it’s shaping up to be a huge one! We can expect plenty of exciting announcements, like world premieres and even appearances by the Muppets at Summer Game Fest. Xbox revealed release dates for its upcoming games, and the PC Gaming Show promises to be epic. Plus, rumors suggest Nintendo has a Direct presentation planned with a few surprises already leaked – it’s going to be a busy and exciting season for gamers!
PlayStation is kicking things off with a major presentation called State of Play on June 2nd, lasting over an hour. Following their impressive showcase earlier this year, everyone’s wondering if they can top it. Here’s a look at 15 possible announcements and reveals to expect, starting with…
Control Resonant’s Release Date
Remedy, we understand you’re working on a large-scale sequel to the fantastic game Control. It sounds like it will have improved combat, more challenging enemies and bosses, and a truly unique visual style. With a gameplay demonstration already shown, many fans expect a release date to be announced soon – and we’re eagerly awaiting it!
The Faye Situation
Several reliable sources, including NateTheHate and Jason Schreier, have reported on this new game, and a writer at Santa Monica Studio even hinted at a “new franchise” within the same world on LinkedIn. Given all this, it seems impossible that the game hasn’t been officially announced yet. Current information suggests the game will star Faye, alongside Merlin and a talking sword – connecting it to Arthurian legends – and will also feature the character Tyr. Rumors pointed to a reveal in May or June, and now that time has arrived. This could mean we might see the game launch in the first six months of 2027. Hopefully, that timeline holds true!
Kena: Scars of Kosmora Release Date
The new game, Scars of Kosmora, builds on the original with a more powerful and combat-focused version of the spirit guide. We’ve gotten a glimpse of updated gameplay, Kena’s new abilities, and the beautiful world of Kosmora. A release date announcement feels imminent, and like with Control Resonant, Ember Lab is likely aiming to release the game before the highly anticipated GTA 6.
Silent Hill: Townfall Release Window

Konami made a big impact at February’s State of Play event. While some might see it as a temporary highlight, the upcoming release of Silent Hill: Townfall this year – exclusively for PS5 and PC – is confirmed. However, I expect we’ll see more details at the next State of Play, potentially a release window, and maybe even a firm date later on (perhaps at Gamescom Opening Night Live). The timing really depends on how development is progressing, which is currently unknown. Konami might decide to give the development team (supported by Annapurna Interactive) more time and delay the game, or they might stick to the plan, giving us a Silent Hill game for the third year in a row. At the very least, announcing a general release timeframe like ‘Fall’ would be a good start.
Marvel’s Wolverine Reveals More Characters
We know Insomniac will be sharing more details about Marvel’s Wolverine, and they might even start taking pre-orders soon. Beyond showcasing the intense combat, it’s possible we’ll see surprise characters revealed – maybe other X-Men who are connected to Logan. That would definitely create excitement and could encourage more people to pre-order the game.
Intergalactic Resurfaces
Reports last December suggested Naughty Dog was aiming to release Intergalactic around mid-2027. It’s possible plans have shifted, so Sony might choose to share more details now, perhaps hinting at a release timeframe for next year. Alternatively, they could hold off on the announcement, giving the development team more time to finalize the game. With only one PlayStation exclusive remaining for this year, Sony needs to build excitement for 2027. Considering rumors from NateTheHate about additional exclusives at the upcoming State of Play – alongside Marvel’s Wolverine and Faye’s game – Intergalactic seems like a strong possibility for a reveal.
More MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls Reveals
With the game launching in August and Arc System Works starting to show off more characters, it’s likely we’ll see more reveals at the upcoming State of Play event. Players have already tested a recent version with the Fighting Avengers, so the next reveal could be paired with news of an open beta in July to gather final feedback. Plus, now would be a great time to finally showcase some of the game’s villains.
Uncharted Returns

I’m reaching out to Shaun Escayg, the creative director at Naughty Dog, hoping to get some news about their next project. A recent photo taken in a location that strongly resembles the setting of the Uncharted series, combined with years of speculation about a new installment or remaster, has fans wondering if an announcement is coming soon. Could we finally be getting some official news? While it’s not certain, a reveal feels possible – though perhaps not at The Game Awards. It’s a definite maybe!
Break In/Fairgame$
With Destiny 2 updates slowing down and the initial response to Marathon being lukewarm despite promising Season 2 content, many are wondering if Sony will soon officially announce Fairgame$. A recent trademark filing for “Break In” suggests the game might be rebranded – though it could also just be a slogan – and could offer a heist-focused experience reminiscent of Payday. However, don’t count on a surprise release, as early playtests haven’t been very positive.
Until Dawn 2 Announcement
Fans have been eagerly awaiting news of this PlayStation game for quite some time. Rumors began in 2022 after Sony acquired Firesprite and a job listing mentioned a “triple-A narrative-driven horror-adventure game.” More speculation surfaced in 2024, and then the recent Until Dawn remake included two mysterious scenes that could be teasers. If the game is still in development – and hasn’t been cancelled despite a poorly received film adaptation – an official announcement feels long overdue.
Marvel’s Venom Announcement
Insomniac Games is likely working on a third Marvel’s Spider-Man game, but we might see a Marvel’s Venom game even sooner. Despite reports suggesting it was cancelled after the passing of voice actor Tony Todd, the project’s status is still unclear. It’s possible Insomniac is holding onto it for a later release, perhaps to coincide with a major PlayStation event next fall, similar to how Nintendo handles its exclusive games. So, even if an announcement is made, a firm release date remains uncertain.
Media Molecule’s Next Game

So, it’s been three years since Media Molecule stopped updating Dreams, and they’ve been working on something new ever since. I was checking out a designer’s portfolio, and it hinted at them working on an open-world game. Now, just because they’re making something open-world doesn’t guarantee we’ll see it at the next State of Play, but a guy can hope, right? I’m really hoping they’ll give us an update on how it’s coming along – that would be awesome!
Resident Evil Requiem Story Expansion Reveal
It seems likely we’ll hear about a Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake at Summer Game Fest, just like we did with Resident Evil Requiem last year. However, Capcom might reveal something Resident Evilrelated even sooner. They could show a trailer for the upcoming story expansion, possibly confirming Leon as the main character and hinting at Ada Wong’s inclusion. While possible, given the frequent updates since Requiem* came out, a full gameplay reveal and release date announcement might be too much to expect right away.
Kingdom Hearts 4 Update
It’s been over four years since the announcement of the next main Kingdom Hearts game, and fans are starting to feel as lost as Sora, eagerly awaiting any news. While creative director Tetsuya Nomura says the team is diligently working towards the series’ 25th anniversary next year, significant updates in 2026 seem improbable. However, this is Kingdom Hearts and Tetsuya Nomura – so it’s best to stay optimistic and anticipate surprises.
Untitled John Wick Game
Saber Interactive recently surprised everyone with a new game announcement during the State of Play event, and we’re eager to learn more. With the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – a project Saber took on after a change in companies – facing potential difficulties, many are hoping this new game is another John Wick title. We’re hoping Saber Interactive will reveal the official name of the game soon.
